    I recently upgraded the event calendar on our test site georgesriversailingclub.com.au/x and the widget would not show any events. I added the following to the child theme $events_label_plural = tribe_get_event_label_plural();

    $posts = tribe_get_list_widget_events();
    which has fixed the problem of events showing, but the format is not right and some info is missing.

    You can see the widget in the sidebars on both sites to compare. Is there a setting change or workaround for this.

    I have not upgraded any other plugins, the only recent upgrade has been to the latest version of wordpress

    thanks

    Hi Dominic and sorry for the trouble here!

    By chance, are you running a different version of The Events Calendar than The Events Calendar PRO on your site? For example, if you recently updated The Events Calendar to the latest version (3.11.1), then make sure you also have the latest version of The Events Calendar PRO (3.11.1) installed as well. Running versions out of sync can certainly lead to issues like this, so that’s worth checking out.

    Cheers!

    Good question and that depends. Were there perhaps any changes to your theme or child theme (for example CSS) that might have affected the styling? There were also some changes in the widget markup from 3.9 to 3.10 but those should have affected you if you were upgrading from 3.10 to 3.11.

    Thanks for your patience while we figure this out together!

    Hi Dominic, thanks for following up!

    Does the same issue pop up if you switch your test site to a default WordPress theme? For example, are you able to switch to Twenty Fifteen and does the widget still not display any events? I just want to check to see if we should be focusing on the plugin or the theme.

    If you could do the same with the other installed plugins (deactivate them all and check the issue–if it’s there, reactivate the plugins one at a time to see where the conflict is), that would be great so we can make sure we’re covering our bases.

    Here’s a guide that walks through these troubleshooting steps in more detail, if it helps.

    Thanks!

    Hi Dominic! I appreciate the feedback and information. Were you able to able to follow the troubleshooting guide I shared in my last reply on your test site? If you could switch to a default WordPress theme and deactivate all other plugins, then let me see the site in those default conditions, that would be excellent and super helpful.

    Thanks for your help!

    Awesome, thanks! That helps a lot.

    The display and information looks correct in the default WordPress theme. Have you checked the options in Appearance > Widgets > Events List. There should be a number of options available (screenshot) that you can select to display or hide more or less information about the events in the widget. Are there options you have selected and saved from those settings that are not showing up on the site?

    Thanks,
    Geoff

    Hi Dominic, thanks for following up!

    I may have misunderstood your original question. From the sound of it, you are entering a full amount of text in the Cost field of your event and not all of that text is displaying in the widget. Is that correct?

    For example, you might be entering this: Free or $10 with Reserved Seating

    …but the widget only display: $10

    Is that a correct summary of the issue?

    If so, I’m so sorry for not catching that until now. That is indeed a bug and I have logged a ticket to address it in our system. We’ll share more with you here when there is a progress update. I’ll makr this thread as Pending Fix in the meantime.

    Thanks for reporting this and sorry again for the misunderstanding!

    Hi Geoff

    Is there any timeframe on this fix. Yes, part of the issue was the $10 but all the text in the wizard is bunched up, there is no space between events and it looks like crap. I have restored the theme we use on the test site and you can see the difference between the main site where no updates have been made and the test site where wordpress and your plugin have been updated

    thanks

    Hi Dominic,

    I unfortunately do not have a timeframe at the moment, but do assure you that we have an open ticket and are looking at it. We have a regular release cycle and this will need to be slotted into one of those releases.

    In the meantime, you may want to consider using the additional fields feature of PRO as a means of being able to print text next to the cost field. In other words, you would use the Cost field for the $10 and then use the additional field to include more information about the cost in the event details.

    Another way to approach it in the meantime would be to use Advanced Custom Fields and use that to enter and display cost information in the event template.

    Sorry I don’t have a concrete timeframe for you here, but I hope one of these workarounds will help in the meantime.

    Thanks!
    Geoff
