Upgrading Events Calendar to v4 crashed my entire site – Fatal error: Cannot redeclare tribe_is_community_my_events_page()

Solution given by a forum member in another thread was to install the new v4 of Community plugin via FTP. Did this and my site came back up. The new FTP install of Community Events was not activated, so I clicked to activate it and the whole thing has crashed again, same error.

Can someone from support tell those of us in this situation exactly what to do? here’s the story:

    1) I have Events Calendar, Events Calendar Pro and Community Events plugins installed.
    2) Upgrading Events Calendar this morning to v4 crashed the whole site.
    3) Solution was given of installing new v4 version of Community Events via FTP (as Woprdpress was down).
    4) Did that and it worked – site came back up
    5) As new install of Community Events was not activated, activated it and the same crash happened again

So what is the right way to get this all working? Uninstall Events Calendar completely, then re-install Community Events via FTP, activate it, and only then re-install Events Calendar?

    Hi,

    Sorry for the issues.

Deleting and reinstalling the plugins has worked for everyone else including myself so I am not sure what the issue is here.

With The Events Calendar Active and Community Event Deactivated can you please provide your system information.

Also, not sure if you copied it, but if you have the complete error with the file location and not just this: “Fatal error: Cannot redeclare tribe_is_community_my_events_page()” that would help track down this issue.

If you need your site right away with community events I recommended downgrading to the 3.12.x for all the plugins.

You can download the older versions from your account here on theeventscalendar.com and older versions of the core plugin here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar/developers/

And follow these steps for manual updates:

    Manual Updates

Let me know and we can go from here.

    Thanks

OK, this can be closed as far as I am concerned: my developer had another go at uninstalling and re-installing the Community Events plugin and it worked this time, but he noted “I had left an old fileset from the plugin in there which is definitely my fault,” and which he thinks caused it not to uninstall and re-install cleanly.

Brian, we both typed at the same time – see the explanation from my developer.

I am glad to see you were able to figure it out.

That makes sense if another copy was there.

I am going to go ahead and close this ticket. If you have a similar issue or another in the future, please do not hesitate to create a new ticket.

    Thanks!
