I am experiencing out of order events by date in photo view. I am also noticing an odd long “code” or “jumble of words” at the start of some of my preview copy below the image.

Hi, Ken. Your screenshot looks exactly how it should.

Photo View uses the Isotope library, which fills in all the space from top to bottom, then left to right.

In your screenshot, Oct 20 is highest, then Oct 30, then Nov 18.

Interesting. As far as the jumble of words within the displayed description?

Yes! I do have some custom CSS on my page that helps resize my banners for mobile.

Is there anyway to disable or customize the description that is revealed under each photo?

It’s the regular post_content, just like any Post, except that it’s a custom post type for Events. So it could be a site-wide coding mistake that just so happens to only show up here.

Or it could be something specific to Events, in which case you might want to look at your template overrides for the files in the /wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/src/views/pro/photo/ directory… or one of the functions (via action/filter hook) used by the files there.

It might be easier to go the route of process of elimination: switch to Twenty Seventeen them and if fixed, look in your theme’s functions.php — next, move on to deactivating other plugins — etc.

Please let me know what you find out.

So is there anyway to limit the amount of characters displayed in the description preview of each event within photo view?

Is there a way to disable it completely?

Ken, I think asking questions along those lines is the wrong direction. You shouldn’t be seeing this. Please follow our Testing for Conflicts Guide (basically switch to Twenty Seventeen theme and deactivate other plugins and custom code) to work the process of elimination to determine what’s causing this to happen on your site.

Of course, we always recommend restorable database and file backups before modifying anything on your site.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
