I, we run a site http://www.pontefractandcastleford.co.uk which uses The Events Calendar Pro.

The site is very slow, particularly when browsing events.

We have invested in a new server running Centos 7, and this is the only website on the server.

I have used P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler) and found that The Events Calendar and The Events Calendar Pro is the slowest plugin on the site.

Is there a way to optimise the plugin please?

    Thank you,

    Dean

    Hey Dean,

    Welcome back 🙂

Sorry to hear about your performance issues – those are never fun. Would you mind taking a look at our Testing for conflicts article? It may help narrow down any other potential theme and/or plugin conflicts that could be causing problems.

We build our plugins with performance in mind – that being said, I recommend heading on over to GTmetrix.com. Run your site to see if you can find any more information about where your slow load times are coming from.

I noticed you have W3 Total Cache plugin activated when viewing your events page source code. The load time was under 3 seconds for me which isn’t too bad in my book! Keep in mind, one incorrect setting with your caching plugin can cause major issues – so you may want to run through your caching plugin settings and options again.

Thanks for understanding where we’re coming from when it comes to performance. We will continue our attempts at exceeding the latest code standards and practices – I promise you that.

I wish you the best of luck addressing your performance issues and have a great week!
