    PRE-SALE QUESTIONS

Hi guys, I’ve already looked around the forum but I’d still need to confirm some things that have not been answered regarding outlook integration:
    1. I know that you can export the .ics file from your WP website and import it to your outlook calendar. My questions are, should you manually import to outlook it every time you create a change in your WP calendar? Is there a way to automate this? If you can automate this, how soon will the your outlook calendar be updated after the update on your WP calendar? Also, will it create a new calendar on outlook, or will it just update your current calendar?
    2. When you import events from your outlook calendar to your WP calendar using the event aggregator, how often will your WP calendar be updated? Will it be real-time?

    Thanks!

Hi. Thanks for your interest in our plugin suite.

    1)

iCalendar files (.ics) are static, not dynamic. Once you import an iCalendar file, it does not stay updated.

    2)

Event Aggregator (EA) does keep imports updated, and you can choose whether or not modifications made in WordPress get overridden by the outside source.

Last but not least, we have a pretty great Refund Policy so you can buy one or many of our add-ons and thoroughly test them.

I hope this info helps. Let me know if you have any follow-up questions.

Thanks Cliff. Would you be so kind and answer some of the questions as well? For question 1, if I import an ICS file to outlook, “will it create a new calendar on outlook, or will it just update your current calendar?”

For question 2, how often does the auto-import occurs through Even Aggregator? Other plugins that I have checked updates the calendar every hour. Thus, I want to know if the events will change on the WP calendar a few seconds/minutes after the change in the outlook calendar.

Each software handles iCalendar files its own way. I don’t have Outlook to test, and different versions of Outlook may operate differently.

Our .ics files would be read by Outlook just the same way as any other iCalendar file from any other source.

If you have Outlook and want to test, you can get the iCalendar exports from our demo site: https://wpshindig.com/events/

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
