ParticipantWe have hundreds of events and everything works perfectly. Until today. Someone tried to add a Halloween party on October 31. Nothing special about this event – in fact, we don’t have most of the information yet so we just wanted to get the times on the calendar so anyone else planning October events would see we have a party booked for the evening of October 31st.
Strangely, this event doesn’t appear on the monthly calendar page. It does appear on the list view and week view pages. I wouldn’t know how to do that if I wanted. Any idea how this could happen?

ParticipantHey @rstoeber,
Sorry to hear about this issue – it’s an odd one indeed. We’ve experienced bugs in the past with behavior similar to this when an event as at the end of a month with no events in the month after, but you have events for November 2015 as well so that’s not the problem here…
I’m curious, would you be able to take screenshots of everything in the back-end edit screen for this Halloween event? You can take several screenshots separately, or if you have Firefox, you can go to Tools > Web Developer > Developer Toolbar, then enter this in the console bar that pops up:
screenshot --fullpage
You can share screenshots by uploading to a site like Imgur, Dropbox, etc., and just share links in your reply here.
Seeing all that event data might be quite helpful, and since we can’t log into customer sites, screenshots are invaluable for sharing this data exactly as-is.
Thank you!

ParticipantHi George,
I don’t think it’s related to this particular event. Something is wrong with the calendar on October 31.
We had some time for testing so I made various changes to the original Halloween event. First I changed to start/end time. Then I changed the Author and some random text. Nothing makes it appear on the month view calendar.
After those tests didn’t work I made a new event for the morning of Oct 31. So this is a completely different event, made by a different Author, scheduled for a different time on Oct 31, with a different event category. This new event also appears on the list view and week views, but not on the calendar view.
Here’s a link to the picture of the edit page for the Halloween event if you still want it, it looks the same as many others:

ParticipantHi @stoeber,
First of all, thank you for testing that out a bit there and for posting this screenshot – very helpful!
Second of all, thank you for your patience with this while we investigate it more closely. The behavior is indeed a bit odd.
I’m curious about three further tests to try here:
1. If you create other events in the last day of various other months, do these events show up?
2. If you take your test event from October 31, one that does not show up, and simply adjust its date and time to move it a day back to October 30 or something, then save these changes, on the front-end does the event then show up in Month view?
3. Is it possible on your site to run through our basic Troubleshooting process outlined here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/ You do not need to do these steps right now, I’m just curious if it’s possible should it be relevant based on your findings in tests #1 and #2 above…
I do not create this behavior on my local test site, so I can rope in some other developers at this point to see what they find too – there very well could be a bug or something that I’m just not seeing!
In the meantime, let me know what you find from tests #1 and #2 above.
Thank you for your patience with this!
George

ParticipantHi George,
I think I figured out the problem, or at least have some new clues for your programmers.
October 2015 is somewhat unique because the 31st is the very last (bottom right) box on the month view calendar. Other months, like July show the beginning of the next month to complete the bottom row of the calendar. For example, look at the month page for July and you’ll see August 1 is the bottom right box on the calendar.
It looks to me like on any month where the last day of the month falls into the bottom right box on the page, I can’t put any events on that day. I tried this on January 2015 and April 2016, and both months have the same problem I’m having with October, that is, it won’t display any event on the last day. (Those events always appear on the list and week views.)
Let me know if this helps.

ParticipantWe are also experiencing this same issue with Events not Displaying on October 31st. It seems that events do not display in the last box of any month view. It appears that the last box is always displaying blank. For example we have an event on Dec 5, which shows as the last box on November, but it is blank as well, even though it is showing events on Dec 1st and 2nd.

ParticipantOK, that’s interesting. But I just noticed something even more strange.
We have an older event (added to the calendar very early this year) on the calendar for Aug 1, 2015. This happens to be the last box (bottom right) on the July calendar page. That event does NOT appear when first opening the page at:
https://sausalitoyachtclub.org/events/2015-07/
So then I added a new event for Aug 1 to see what happens. Now there should be two events showing when you go to that page above, but the box for Aug 1 is empty.
BUT, start on the July page and click the link to August on the bottom right of our calendar. You’ll see the two events showing properly on Aug 1. Now, click the July link on the bottom left of our calendar and surprise! there is one event showing for Aug 1 on the July calendar page. (The old event appears, but not the new event.)
Very odd behavior.

ParticipantThanks to both of you for reporting this behavior, it’s possible that there’s a bug here and while I don’t have an actionable step at the present moment, I’m going to test this further myself and rope in some other developers for investigating this.
Thank you for your patience! Please stay tuned while we investigate this bug – if other questions or concerns arise here in the meantime, let me know.
