MemberGood evening and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic. It looks like you are adding a “RSVP” ticket (as opposed to a regular ticket).
Normally you should be able to choose both types. If you have not already done so, I would recommend reading the following: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/new-user-primer-event-tickets/
What is going on is that by their very nature RSVP tickets are not transactional. They are merely there for events where you simply want confirmation of attendance (RSVP).
If you still want to use RSVP tickets AND display a price for the events.
You could apply the following snippet in the functions.php file of your theme (without the PHP tag at the top): https://gist.github.com/GeoffEW/69f8a033fb614c78b3de45a197431135
But first to be extra safe, before making any changes to your functions.php file, you should make a backup of that file.
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

ParticipantGeoff,
Thanks for the reply, but I am clicking the “+ New ticket” button in the Tickets meta box. Both the “+ New ticket” and “+ New RSVP” buttons open with the same fields, and the “Save RSVP” button.

MemberGood evening,
Thank you for writing back.
In that case, by the sound of it, it looks like there is some type of conflict at play.
This is usually because of:- A conflict with another plugin
- A conflict with your WordPress theme
- A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating
When it comes to that type of issue, it is preferable to troubleshoot in a staging environment if you have one.
A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.
The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.
Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:
- Make a backup of your database
- Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)
Let me know how that goes.

ParticipantGeoff,
I have reverted to the Twenty-Seventeen theme and disabled all plugins except for Events Calendar, Events Calendar PRO, Events Tickets and Events Tickets Plus. See that attached image fore active plugins. Now in my Tickets metabox, I only have the “+ New RSVP” button – no “+ New ticket” button at all. A screenshot of that metabox is also attached.
