Having trouble with events not showing in List view when searching for events in the future. I have temporarily changed the default view to “Month” to avoid users grumbling, but if I change the display to “List” it returns no events.
    Example:
I want to search for “first aid” in January 2019. There are four recurring events that feature the words “first aid” in January (8 dates in total). If I run this search in month view, it returns all the events as expected. If this same search is run with List View selected as default, it returns “There were no results found for “first aid”. ”
    Any ideas?

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks so much for reaching out!

I tried the keyword “first aid” in List View and did see results appear.  Are you still experiencing this issue?

If so, can you provide me with some more details about how to replicate this issue?

    Let me know!

    Thanks,

    Jaime

    Hi
The problem seems to happen when you click the “Find Events” button in “List View”. If you’re in “Month View” and simply change to “List View” it works fine (presumably because it is simply reformatting the display of search results already returned). If you’re in list view, enter search parameters and click “Find Events”, no results are returned. I have reset the default view to “List” for the moment so you can see this. At http://earlyyearshub.co.uk/courses if you enter Jan 2019 in the date field, “first aid” in the keyword field and click “Find Events” you should see this issue.
    Thanks
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Ah okay, I see what you mean there.  Thanks for providing that explanation.

As a first troubleshooting step, can you try flushing your permalinks by going to Settings < Permalinks and Save Changes.  You will want to clear your browser and site cache as well after doing this.

If that doesn’t do the trick, let’s try to rule out if there is some type of conflict at play.
    This is usually because of:

    • A conflict with another plugin
    • A conflict with your WordPress theme
    • A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating

When it comes to that type of issue, it is preferable to troubleshoot in a staging environment if you have one.

A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.

The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.

Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.

But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:

    • Make a backup of your database
    • Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)

Let me know how that goes!

    Thanks,

    Jaime

OK, sorry there’s been a delay in responding to this but it looks like it’s an issue with the AccessPress Pro (V2.09) theme that I’m using. I switched to TwentySeventeen and it worked fine (without deactivating any plugins, so it doesn’t look like it’s a plugin conflict). This may be because AccessPress Pro has an inbuilt basic “Events” functionality which we were using in an older version of the site which is clashing somehow, but I’m guessing. Is there any way of resolving this that doesn’t involve replacing the theme? The client is quite attached to the current theme and I could do without having to replace it…

    Hey Andrew

I’m glad you’ve narrowed down the source of the conflict. Can you reach out to them to see if they can help you override this conflict? They may have had others encounter a similar issue.

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂

Hi, thanks but in the end in discussion with the client we decided to go with a theme that declared inbuilt support for Events Calendar (Avada, if anyone’s having similar problems). Took a couple of days to make the switch but so far it’s looking good. Andrew

Hey Andrew, great to hear. If you bump into any issues, it will be helpful to also reach out to Avada. We like the integration, but they do customize the look and also where the settings are for our plugins.

I’ll close out this thread for now but let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂
