Need to add Events by Category to a Sidebar in a Custom Page Template

Hi there,
I am very new to this plugin. I purchased the Pro Events Calendar version and have created a custom page template and custom stylesheet that all seem to be working nicely, but am unsure how to make the template create a left-hand sidebar that would show all the categories of events? Would that require the filter plugin as well?

Any help at all is most appreciated.

Hi Kezie. If you’re wanting to add the Filter Bar plugin, there is an option to make it appear next to the calendar display, but it’s not a true WordPress sidebar or widget.

If you’re asking about creating an actual WordPress sidebar area and displaying it on your site, that’d be outside the scope of using our plugins and be specific to the theme you’re using. Some themes make this happen via coding while others have a visual/GUI way to layout your site’s pages (header, footer, content area, sidebar).

The Filter Bar looks like what I need, but just making sure this is something I will need to purchase in addition to the Calendar Pro plugin, and is not already packaged with the plugin.

You are correct that PRO does not include Filter Bar (unfortunately a more common misconception than we’d like — sorry if something made you think this).

Last but not least, we have a pretty great Refund Policy so you can buy one or many of our add-ons and thoroughly test them.

I’d suggest buying Filter Bar and testing it with/without PRO to see if any of PRO’s features help with your Filter Bar implementation (such as PRO’s Additional/Custom Fields).

If/When you decide you’d like a refund for one or both (if they just don’t meet your needs), yes, you’d just submit that refund form. (Make sure you’re within the limited time period.)
