GuestThis would be for a website for a coalition of theaters.
Each theater would need a dedicated calendar (26 in total), to display on a page dedicated to that theater. This I assume is easy, yes?
The home page is more interesting.
– At any given time, there are up to 12 shows in production.
– The home page needs a section to automatically display those in-production shows, with an image, show title, town it’s in, a read more link and a buy now link. We envision 4 rows with 3 shows in each row.
– As a show goes “out of production,” it should automatically come off the home page; as a show comes into production, it should get added, automatically.
– Display or not display cannot be by category (not, for example, by checking a “now playing” category), but by event start and end dates
I have no idea if this has been done or is possible, can you advise?
Thanks.March 25, 2016 at 5:56 pm #1094322George
ParticipantHey Mike,
Before even addressing your various points about the home page, I wanted to address what is, ironically enough, the trickiest part of all of this:
Each theater would need a dedicated calendar (26 in total), to display on a page dedicated to that theater. This I assume is easy, yes?
We actually DON’T have any features that support embedded calendars—whether on the home page or on different pages for different theaters, etc.—and so this feature alone is actually very difficult to implement on your site. You would have to custom-code extensively to pull this off.
The home page stuff is actually almost already entirely possible with our various widgets in Events Calendar Pro—but having a different calendar for each theater is not possible with any of our plugins out-of-the-box. 🙁
I’m sorry to bear this news!
Sincerely,
GeorgeMarch 26, 2016 at 4:41 am #1094380Mike
GuestGeorge, thanks very much for the quick response.
If I redefine the requirement to eliminate the individual calendars, so that there is only one calendar…
I could auto-populate a 3×4 grid with “currently showing” events?

GuestToo much to learn in a short time; sorry for my novice status.
I don’t think they need 24 calendars. I think it’s one calendar, with 24 venues. Each venue page can display a calendar of just their own events?
And then, maybe fulfill the “display 12 currently showing on the home page” with this solution from Sallie Goetsch? Multiple Rows of Events in Events Calendar Pro Widget

ParticipantHey Mike,
Thanks for your updates. I cannot speak to the quality or utility of that third-party widget you linked to, but I can confirm that this is not possible with our plugins at this time:
Each venue page can display a calendar of just their own events?
A single-venue page will have a list of events at that venue coming up, but not a mini calendar outright, and building that require extensive code customization.
There are many small details and possibilities with our plugins, and so to best determine if it’s a good fit for your project, I would recommend trying out the plugin firsthand. The plugin is FREE, so spending a half hour or so alone with the plugin should be quite informative. You can find The Events Calendar here → http://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar
If you are interested in trying out a premium add-on, too, then while these things are not free, we have a thirty-day no-questions-asked refund policy. So, you basically get a thirty-day “safety” period where you can just play around with things, and then if you don’t like them, request a refund within those thirty days and we’ll issue a full refund immediately. Learn more here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/refund-policy/
I just wanted to share this information because it might be useful.
Best of luck with your project,
GeorgeMarch 26, 2016 at 12:34 pm #1094459Mike
GuestThanks again. Your thoughts match mine: time to spend some time with the software.

ParticipantGlad to have helped, Mike—I’ll close up this thread for now, but open a new one any time if there’s anything else we can help with. 🙂
Cheers!
