Hi,

I am researching ticketing systems for a job I’ll be bidding on in early April. I have a few questions about WooCommerce Tickets add-on for The Events Calendar.

– The client has no need for a calendar, just the page(s) to purchase tickets. In the screencast, I saw links on the ticket page that took the user back to the Event Calendar. Would I be able to remove those? Can I even use this without having the calendar on my site?

– The screencast showed an example of a ticket being purchased by cheque. After processing, the customer is emailed their ticket. Am I able to NOT send an email ticket and instead send a physical ticket via regular mail?

– Woocommerce allows me to give a user the role of ‘Shop Manager’. Will I have an option to give a user the role of ‘Ticket Manager’ with the WooCommerce Tickets add-on for The Events Calendar?

Hi Tracy, thanks for considering our plugins.

The client has no need for a calendar, just the page(s) to purchase tickets. In the screencast, I saw links on the ticket page that took the user back to the Event Calendar. Would I be able to remove those? Can I even use this without having the calendar on my site?

Yes, it’s possible to buy the tickets via regular product pages (though a minor piece of customization work would be involved – see this recent thread which is relevant).

In terms of removing the calendar there is no setting built in to let you do this as it runs somewhat contrary to what most people want the calendar for, but you could certainly work around this simply by never linking to the events page or you could even intercept requests to view the calendar page and redirect them, if you felt the need to take things to that level.

The screencast showed an example of a ticket being purchased by cheque. After processing, the customer is emailed their ticket. Am I able to NOT send an email ticket and instead send a physical ticket via regular mail?

I suppose you could – again you’d need to make a minor customization to avoid the tickets email being sent and you would additionally need to take care of generating the physical tickets you’re planning on sending. If you wished to leverage our plugin for this purpose it might alternatively be possible to redirect the ticket email to your own email address, letting you capture them (for printing and sending out to customers, etc).

Woocommerce allows me to give a user the role of ‘Shop Manager’. Will I have an option to give a user the role of ‘Ticket Manager’ with the WooCommerce Tickets add-on for The Events Calendar?

No – I’m afraid no additional user roles are defined by WooCommerce Tickets. Once again, you could roll your own – but if you don’t need event calendar functionality, don’t want to send tickets by email and require a different user permissions model it might actually be the case that, realistically, this just isn’t a great fit for you.

Thanks for getting in touch – and do let us know if we can help with anything else.
