GuestHi there,
We’d like to purchase your Events Calendar Pro Plugin.
Therefore I have a question regarding moving events from one site to another. At the moment we have the site xyz.com. In a few months we’ll have the additional site abc.com which is still in process of programming.
For now we’d like to manage all our events on the site xyz.com. But when the other site goes online, we’d like to manage and display the events there but also display all the events on xyz.com (with the iCal-Importer) without the need to manage them there. So only one site for managing the events, but displaying them on both sites.
For this we have to move existing events with already taken bookings from xyz.com to abc.com without any loss of information. Is this possible with your plugin?
Many thanks in advance!

MemberHi Christopher,
Thanks so much for considering our plugins! I’m really excited to hear you’ll be using them on your sites and appreciate your support. ๐
Yes, it is definitely possible to export events from one site to the other. In fact, this guide does a nice job of summing up the process for exporting the events data from one WordPress site and how to import it into another WordPress site:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/using-wordpress-export-tools-to-migrate-events-content/
Once you have migrated the data from one site to the other, iCal Importer (or, better yet, Event Aggregator which is our newest product) can watch for new events and import them automatically for you.
Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. ๐
Cheers!

GuestHi Geoff,
Thank you for your imeediate response!
This is exactly what we are looking for. I tested it on the free version and it worked perfectly. Now we have another scenario as described before.
Probably we will also manage our events on xyz.com in the future and not move the management to abc.com.
So we only need the chance to display the events on xyz.com and abc.com.We need The Events Calendar Pro, Events Ticket Plus and the Event Aggregator for this purpose.
Do we need to purchase all these add-ons twice or ist it enough to have the first add-ons on xyz.com and just the Event Aggregator on abc.com?
On the other hand, if we moved the management to abc.com and only display the events on xyz.com, could we move the add-ons from one site to another if not needed any more on xyz.com?I hope you understand what I mean, if not don’t hesitate to ask any questions.

MemberHey Christopher, happy Monday and I hope you had a great weekend. ๐

Good question! It is possible to only have Event Aggregator on one site and the rest of the plugins on the other.
However, if you are importing recurring events, then you will want to have Events Calendar PRO on both sites since it is required in order for The Events Calendar to support them.
Also, I do want to note that Event Aggregator will not import tickets from one site to another. That means you will want to have Event Tickets and Event Tickets Plus installed on both sites as well. Once an event has been imported to site abc.com, you can use the Tools > Export option to export the ticket data on siteย xyz.com and then use the Tools > Import option to import the data on site abc.com.
On the other hand, if we moved the management to abc.com and only display the events on xyz.com, could we move the add-ons from one site to another if not needed any more on xyz.com?
Absolutely. You can move plugins from one site to another and that would absolutely remove the need for having the plugins on both sites. You can also move your license keys for the plugins from one site to another and we have a guide on how to do that.
Does this help? Please let me know!

GuestHi Geoff,
thanks for your answer, perfect!
We will set this up in a few days, but there is one last question:
For the Event Aggregator it says the $89 include one year of support and updates, at the end of the page it says you have one year access to the service.
So do I have to buy the Event Aggregator every year or can I just use it after one year but without support and updates? Many thanks in advance.
Best regards

MemberHi Christopher,
Thanks for following up!
Yes, Event Aggregator is a service and purchasing a license will grant you one year of access to using it, plus access to the support forums here on this site. Once the year has past, you may choose to renew the license or let it expire — we do send an email reminder a few weeks ahead of expiration date.
Cheers!

GuestOkay, so in this case it would wiser to use the iCal Importer because we only need to import events from the other Events Calendar which exports an iCal Feed, right?
With this we’re happy and will begin using Events Calendar with their Addons ๐
Thank you very much for all of your support!

MemberHi Christopher,
Good question! I do think Event Aggregator is the best bet because it will replace iCal Importer at some point in time and includes the same functionality, as well as additional features. Plus, we are only maintaining iCal Importer at this point as we phase it out, but are actively development new features and improvements for Event Aggregator on a regular basis.
That’s only my opinion though. iCal Importer is still great and you’re most certainly welcome to use that instead.
Cheers!
