    Hi there
    We are changing theme and the Events Calendar has gone crazy, with the new theme seeing it as a blog. We are trying to sort out all issues with the plugin and update everything while still on a development, staging URL, but we can’t upgrade the Events Calendar Pro plugin to match events calendar and Events Tickets Plus (make it 4.2.2.) because we can’t upgrade on the new URL.
    We have tried a manual upgrade, and have just guessed that it means this;
    1. deactivate the ECP old version on the staging site
    2. intall again with new version of the plugin
    The install fails because it already exists.
    We are worried if we DELETE the old version we will lose all the data from the calendar in history and also have to rebuild.

    We have spent hours on this and would really appreciate some help.

    I think the gap in knowledge is what is meant by ‘manual upgrade’.

    Thanks

    Grace

    Hi. Sorry you’re having such troubles. Hopefully this information helps:

    Modern Tribe plugin updates:

    ===

    Deleting The Events Calendar or its add-on plugins will NOT delete any of your data if you delete it via the WordPress plugin manager because that’s how we’ve decided to code our plugin.

    FYI: deletingĀ any plugin via FTP or cPanel’s File Manager (i.e. deleting just the files from the server) will also ensure a plugin gets deleted (if you delete the entire plugin folder) without removing any data from the database. This can sometimes be helpful to know in cases where a pluginĀ does run an uninstall routine to delete data (again, our plugins do not run such a routine at this time and probably never will).

    You can also see the difference when you click to delete a plugin, like this.

    Please let me know if I can be of further assistance!
