Greetings, we are in the process of redesigning our newspaper site: http://www.monitorsaintpaul.com/MonitorNewSite and wanted to utilize The Events Calendar in the site. But we’ve discovered that the both the The Events Calendar, and especially The Events Calendar: Community Events plug-in slow the site down considerably. The Community Events plug-in seems to be the big culprit. When enabled, the sites image files that normally load without much of a problem take forever and sometimes can’t be found?? Turn the Community Events plug-in off, they load no problem. Just wondering if this has been an issue for anybody else, and if there is a solution or possible workaround.
I have tried turning plug-ins on and off.
We are using WordPress ver. 3.4.1
The Events Calendar Plug-in Ver 2.0.8
The Events Calendar: Community Events Ver. 1.01.1
The theme is the Premium News theme.Best!

I’m very sorry to hear you’re having this problem. I will look to see if it is a logged issue that other people are having. In the mean time, have you tried increasing the PHP memory of your site? Here is an article on it: http://www.dailyblogging.org/wordpress/increase-wordpress-memory-limit/?Also, does this happen to you when reverting to the Twenty Eleven theme? You may need to set up your site on a testing environment to see if this is the case. I just want to make sure there isn’t a conflict there.

Hello Rob, it looks like you’re right:
That other post was started earlier this year and it seems like it is a known problem. The good news is that we did make an improvement in 2.0.8 and have plans to make even more improvements when 2.1 comes out, hopefully later this year, but we can’t be sure.
