ParticipantThe Events Calendar List View descriptions cut off after one and a half lines. Prior to the recent update, I would add multiple lines of text in the Event Excerpt sections and these lines would appear in their entirety in the Calendar List View descriptions. Now, they don’t.
Strangely enough, the multiple line descriptions will appear if I do the following:
1. Click “Next Events” at the bottom right of the page, a page displaying “There were no results found” shows.
2. Click “Previous Events” and the Events Calendar displays all events and the proper multiple line descriptions.Website: http://refreshfotos.com/events/
Theme: Foxy by Elegant Themes
Thank you for your assistance.

MemberHey Mirja,
Thanks for reaching out on this! Strange issue let me say…
Can you please follow the steps described in our Testing for conflicts guide? This way we can see if this is a problem in our plugin or a conflict with the theme or other installed plugins.
Also, are you always seeing the excerpt in there or when it shows the “long text” is getting it from the event description instead of the excerpt?
Please let me know about your findings,
Best,
NicoDecember 15, 2015 at 1:30 pm #1041883Mirja
ParticipantNico, as mentioned, this problem arose after updating to the latest version of The Events Calendar. The previous version of The Events Calendar worked perfectly. Prior to this, typing in a multiple line description in the Excerpt field displayed it on the Calendar List View. I have changed nothing else on my website. No other plugins are active.
I followed your suggestion for “Testing for conflicts” and the Twenty Thirteen theme changes the look of my website drastically. I was able to search for events/classes and it showed two upcoming classes with the complete multiple line descriptions. I have taken several screenshots but now don’t have the option to upload them.
Kindly assist as my business depends on my website being clear and correct, and I am waiting for your resolution to send out an update to my client list. Thank you.

ParticipantI created a new test event which confirmed the following:
Text added within the Excerpt section for an Event is cut off after 1 1/2 lines when displayed in the Calendar List View. In the previous version of The Events Calendar, this did not occur, instead the entire text would display.

ParticipantBrian resolved another issue that affected the Calendar List View (after the update) which was that not all events were showing. The resolution was specific to the Foxy Theme and required changing the number in Appearance > Foxy Theme Options > General Settings > Number of Posts displayed on Archive pages. Brian stated that The Events Calendar is read as an Archive Page in the Foxy Theme. With that being said, is there any Custom CSS for the Foxy Theme that could be added to correct the problem I’ve been describing?

MemberHi Mirja,
Thanks for following up on this, sorry to hear about this.
Regarding the testing for conflicts steps, that is usually intended to be tested on a staging / local instance, because as you say it will alter how the site looks. Thanks anyway for trying that out!
I’m aware of what you share with me about the archive pages, but this doesn’t seem related to that. We had some except/description issues after releasing 4.0 and they were patched in 4.0.1, but apparently this fix was not 100% complete. I’ve reached out to Elegant Themes for a copy of Foxy theme to run some local test on this and see if I can understand why this is failing. I’ll be looking into that later today and see if there’s some quickfix I can share with you.
hanks for your patience on this,
Best,

ParticipantHey @Mirja,
I just wanted to chime in and mention that I’ll be working with Nico on this too – apologies for so many different voices from our team chiming in on these issues! But excerpts have been buggy since our 4.0 release and so we are committing some serious time to investigating this problem and others that relate to excerpts.
Thanks for your patience with us 🙂
Sincerely,
GeorgeDecember 16, 2015 at 2:28 pm #1042495Mirja

MemberThanks Mirja, George (who is working on this) is out today, but hopefully we can have a working fix for this on Monday.
Have a great weekend and thanks for the patience while we look into this,

MemberHi Mirja,
I’ve just noticed this thread was out of my radar, I’m really sorry about it. I was out for the holidays and I wasn’t aware this issue was still not solved 🙁
I will take a look at this again tomorrow, and re-test if it’s still an issue with the latest release.
Thanks for the patience,
Best,

MemberMirja,
I could finally re-test this with latest version and it seems to be fixed now. Can you re-check that please?
Thanks,
