Thanks for some of the elaboration here. Here is what I would recommend doing:
1. Access your site’s wp-content/plugins directory via FTP and delete any folders there that exist for Community Events. This will not erase event data.
2. Deactivate the “Frontend Submissions” plugin on your site.
3. Do a Manual Update of the latest version of Community Events; here are instructions on how to do this → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/manual-updates/
4. Activate the newly-installed copy of Community Events.
5. Please leave the “Frontend Submissions” plugin on your site deactivated.
