    Hi there,

Thanks for these excellent plugins – I’ve used them for year and am quite impressed with their quality.

Here’s my issue: I just updated all three plugins (and kept backups of the old folders). My events page now does not look as it used to. I’d hired a developer to help me customize the look of the filter bar a while back and he made edits directly to the plugin files instead of following your instructions to how to place files in folders under my theme. I’ll need to do that ASAP, but first I have a few questions:

When I view the updated plugin folders for all three plugins they look quite sparse. Each one is missing the Views, Library, Resources, Admin Views folders, plus a few more. The custom files I have were in these folders, now they don’t exist. Is this how these folders should look? If so, how do I customize the plugin? Do the old instructions still work?

    Thanks for your help.

    Best,
    Liz

    Hi Liz,

Thanks so much for the kind words — I am so glad to hear you’ve been enjoying the plugins and the fact that you’ve had such a great experience with them all year is something I and everyone else here on the team loves hearing. 🙂

Oh yeah, it definitely sounds like some stuff is missing from the plugin folders! For example, here is a screenshot of the Events Calendar PRO directory, which is set up in a pretty consistent way as the rest rest of our plugins.

Does yours look different? If so, I would suggest downloading the plugins by logging into this site and heading over to the My Account > Downloads screen, then following the steps in this guide to manually install the plugins. That should ensure that everything gets properly uploaded to your site’s server.

Let’s start there and see if that does the trick!

Thanks Geoff. That’s exactly how I’d updated the plugin before, but I’ve tried it again. The issue is that the zip files that I download from my account seems to be missing some directories!

    Events calendar pro has:
    src (folder)
    vendor (folder)
    lang (folder)
    events-calendar-pro.php
    license.txt
    readme.txt

that’s it! Where else can I download the complete files?

    Hey Liz,

Thanks for the extra information! This is helpful for sure.

Those files are still in the plugins and here’s where you can find them…

    For The Events Calendar:

    • resources/tribe-events-full.min.css → src/resources/tribe-events-full.min.css
    • views/modules/bar.php → src/views/modules/bar.php

    For Filter Bar:

    • views/filter-bar/filter-view-vertical.php → src/views/filter-bar/filter-view-vertical.php

So, basically, all your files should be nestled in the src directory of the plugin. We created the src directory I believe in late 2015, so it’s been there for a little while now, but you are right that it used to be one level up.

If you’ve updated the plugins (which you have), then you will have indeed lost your customizations. As a best practice, we encourage folks to use our templating system for overriding files rather than editing them directly in the plugin because it ensures that those changes will remain intact in future updates. Please let your developer know about it and they should be able to re-apply the changes but this time in a way that prevents lost changes.

    Cheers!

My pleasure! I’m so glad we were able to pin this down and I appreciate your patience working with me to figure it out.

I’ll go ahead and close this thread but let us know if any other questions come up and we’d be happy to help. 🙂

    Cheers!
    Geoff
