GuestI just need a bit more clarification about importing from external websites with Event Aggregator.
My site is going to be a central site that lists the events from dozens of cabaret clubs around the United States. Most of these clubs have calendars on their sites and ideally, if Aggregator can pull the events from those calendars automatically into my site, that would be great!
I understand that the only formats supported are CSV, ICS, Google, iCalendar, Eventbrite and Meetup. So if the sites that I want to pull from have a calendar in any of those formats, do I just input the url of their calendar and Aggregator automatically imports all the information to my site? OR do I need any kind of permission or login details from the club themselves in order to access their calendar?
For instance: this club uses a Google calendar: http://www.westbankcafe.com/laurie-beechman-theatre
So do I just input this url into Aggregator and it gets all the info or do I need to contact the club for information/access/permission?
This site does not seem to use a calendar in the format you list: https://donttellmamanyc.com/shows
So I know that Aggregator will not pull from that calendar. So what do I need to get from the club in order to include their events in my calendar?
I’m just trying to determine how much “permission and access” I need to get from the clubs and whether it is worth getting Aggregator if most of the clubs don’t have their calendars in these formats.
Thank you!

MemberHi, Regina. Thanks for your interest in our plugin suite.
First off, make sure you’re allowed to display their information/images/content… if you are, then you should be good-to-go with Event Aggregator (EA)
Here’s a video I made for you to be able to get the iCalendar export from an embedded Google Calendar, like the first link you sent me: https://cl.ly/9f353aa4d1cf — the format is
https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/XXX%40gmail.com/public/basic.icswhich you could discover from your own Google Calendar’s settings… replace the “XXX” part of that link with the Google Calendar user’s Gmail address.
For the second source you shared, there is no “export events” or “add to your calendar” option there, so you would need to contact them directly. There might be iCalendar export available already, just that they don’t publish the link online (possibly so others can’t easily obtain it).
These two articles are a good reference for getting started with EA:
- https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/event-aggregators-import-limits-work/
Last but not least, we have Bundles and a pretty great Refund Policy so you can buy one or many of our add-ons and thoroughly test them.
I hope this info helps. Let me know if you have any follow-up questions.
