ParticipantHey George, thanks for the wp cron explanation – I had a fair idea of how that works before but great to have it clarified to such a degree.
A question re this then – if my client, for example, goes to their Google Calendar and then makes an update, then goes to the website Events page then will that (no matter what else is happening) force wp-cron job to do it’s work? Also just for the sake of clarification, is it the /events/ page that needs to be loaded for the schedule to work?
Thanks,
ChrisNovember 21, 2016 at 11:19 am #1195436George
ParticipantSure thing, Chris. I really appreciate your patience here and want to confirm that the other bugs mentioned in this thread are still actively in progress and fixes should arrive soon.
As for your two follow-up questions:
if my client, for example, goes to their Google Calendar and then makes an update, then goes to the website Events page then will that (no matter what else is happening) force wp-cron job to do it’s work
Yes, if the timing is right and it makes sense given the import schedule chosen. What I mean is this:
• Let’s say you’ve got the import scheduled every half-hour.
• A scheduled import runs.
• 5 minutes later, your client does the steps you mention.
• In this case, because it has not been at least a half hour since the last import, then no, a cron import won’t run. However:
• Let’s say you’ve got the import scheduled every half-hour.
• A scheduled import runs.
• 40 minutes later, your client does the steps you mention.
• In this case, it’s been at least a half hour since the last import, so a cron import should be triggered and run.
Also just for the sake of clarification, is it the /events/ page that needs to be loaded for the schedule to work?
Pretty much any page will do — it doesn’t really matter. Doing one front end page load and one admin page load should be plenty, regardless of what those specific pages actually are.
If you have caching enabled on your site, refreshing caches first and then doing a page load may also be helpful or necessary.
I hope this information helps!

ParticipantOK thanks for that.
So the steps for it CERTAINLY to run are a little convoluted… and not to be depended on. In a case where my client updates their Google Calendar but they don’t visit the website (front end of admin) then when would the importer run?

ParticipantHi Chris. To address this question:
In a case where my client updates their Google Calendar but they don’t visit the website (front end of admin) then when would the importer run?
To be clear, a “site visit” does not mean an admin has to visit the site. As long as anybody visits the site, it should trigger cron events in line with the scheduling details I’ve listed above in my earlier responses.
I hope this helps!

ParticipantOk Thanks George,
So two of the issues I have reported are indeed bugs – I’d be grateful to know when they may be rolled out with an updated version please (estimate if an actual date isn’t possible)?
Also can we please keep this ticket open until these bugs are resolved as having to reference an old closed ticket that hasn’t been resolved is a faff.
Thanks,
ChrisNovember 28, 2016 at 8:45 am #1198389George
ParticipantHi Chris,
We’re indeed working on those bugs and I unfortunately do not have a specific estimated timespan for you in which the fix will arrive, but it’s hopefully in the range of no more than another couple of weeks; before 2017 is here, for example.
The ticket will indeed remain open as “Pending Fix”:
• If there is news on the updates, or more specific info about when they will arrive, I will post that news here.
• If there are no new posts from me here in this thread, there is no news.
• I will also of course post an update once the fixes are available. Thanks for your patience here Chris!
Stay tuned to this thread.
Sincerely,
GeorgeNovember 30, 2016 at 5:02 am #1199666Chris Adams

ParticipantHello!
I’m so sorry about this, but I actually misfired in my initial post about this and have confirmed with our development team that the bugfixes for the iCal import end times is actually still in its final stages of testing—it has not launched yet and is not yet available.
My apologies!
It should still be arriving soon nonetheless—stay tuned to this thread and to our product news for updates!
Sincerely,

MemberHi there,
Just wanted to inform that the fix for this issue has been finally pushed to the Event Aggregator server! There’s no need to update the plugins, although I recommend using the latest version of The Events Calendar.
Thanks so much for the patience while we worked on this 🙂
Please let us know if this is working as expected for you,
Best,
NicoDecember 19, 2016 at 10:53 am #1207802George
Participant↑ Thanks for posting this while I was out-of-office, Nico—we’ve indeed pushed some fixes that hopefully resolve your problems, Chris!
If things are still not working, Chris, open a new thread (feel free to link back to this one for context/reference) and we will respond to that promptly.
Cheers, and thanks for your patience!
