    Hello
I have imported events from an old site:

    http://www.3brecords.co.uk

    to our new site

    http://www.3brecords.com (not live yet)

The event export and import worked fine, but i am unable to add venue and organiser additions to the imported events. It is definitely a bug because you do see the added organiser in the screen, but you can also still add an organiser (same with venue). All new events i create from scratch in the new site are fine they do not have this issue.

PLEASE READ THIS: Before you ask me to disable all plugins (especially the wp-rocket one) and try a different theme as per your guidelines I have already done this. I repeat, I have already disabled everything but the absolute minimum. So – i am 100% that it is not a theme or plugin conflict. The only reason i am making a big deal and ASKING YOU TO READ THIS is because the last two tickets i have raised you have asked me to do that when i have already stated i have done it. Therefore wasting a few days of time. I will post login details to 3b tickets for you in a private post…

I have also updated the plugins to RC3 to see if this fixes it but it does not, although i have not downgraded back to standard release candidate PLEASE LET ME ENSURE YOU THAT IT WAS EXACTLY THE SAME.

sorry for the caps, i just dont want any time wasted with what i already know this is not about.

    thanks

    Hi and welcome back,

We are unfortunately unable to log into customer sites, so I’ve gone ahead and removed the credentials provided in your private follow-up. What methods did you use while exporting from site A and importing to site B? Have you tried setting up a test environment using only our plugins and the default WP theme as outlined in our Testing for conflicts guide?

I understand you’ve tested for conflicts on your new site, but it would be best if you could essentially start over by exporting events, venues, and organisers from site A and import them into a test site. If you’re not aware of this article, it’s helpful in this instance.

Additionally, have you tried setting WP_DEBUG to ‘true’ on your wp-config.php file to see if any errors display at the top of the imported events you’re having troubles with?

Sorry I don’t have an answer right away and thanks for understanding. Have a great Thursday. Cheers!

So after the ENTIRE post saying please dont send me back to the testing for conflicts guide…that is what you did. For all the brilliance of what you do, you guys dont half suck sometimes.

Its fine. Ill just have to leave the imported events without venues or organizers. When i have explicitely told you that I followed the testing for conflicts guide, it should be YOU setting up a test site and importing and checking to see if this is an issue, not me.

    Appalling.

    Goodbye.

And by the way – the issue IS NOT WITH THE IMPORT.

Its with adding Venues and Organizers to IMPORTED ITEMS. i thought i made that clear, yet you send me to the import guide. Its so disappointing.

Anyway, like i said, i can see you are going to be as much use as a chocolate kettle here, so i’ll just make do with it.

    Hi and welcome back,

I am truly sorry if I came off as dismissing your post; you made things perfectly clear. If you read between me asking you for results from the Testing for conflicts guide on a test environment, you’ll see I asked what your process was for importing site A to site B, especially with ‘WP_DEBUG’ set to ‘true’ on your wp-config file. We have a logged that might be related, but I’ll need more info to make a more informed decision.

We also typically ask the customer to repeat their process on a test environment before doing so on our end as you (the customer) can replicate your exact steps, giving another opportunity to identify the conflict. More often than not, by making this request leads to a more positive outcome for the customer.

Again, I apologize if it seemed I rushed to the Testing for conflicts guide… though I assure you it’s a necessary step in the process as we’re unable to provide support for theme/plugin conflicts (see What support is provided for license holders?)

Please understand I am more than willing to work with you on the issues, but the Testing for conflicts guide will always be a requirement when investigating the possibility of a bug.

Have a great Tuesday and I look forward to your response. Take care 🙂

    I know why its necessary.

I totally agree with it. Thats why i followed it TO THE LETTER, before i posted this ticket – and made sure you know that, and you didn’t have to ask me to do it again. Yet, you still did.

Its of no consequence now – weve decided to just leave the imported events that done have venues without venus as there are only 20 or so events.

So i will gladly allow this ticket to be closed – thanks.

    Welcome back,

As previously stated, I understand you initially ran through the Testing for conflicts guide, but I specifically asked if you were able to set up a test domain and reproduce the steps during the import process to see if we could narrow down when/where/why the issue was occurring.

With that information, I would be more likely to be able to replicate the issue if a bug was indeed in play, we could make the right steps towards documenting it and addressing it in an upcoming maintenance release. This is the process we have made to ensure every bug and feature request gets factored into our future plans.

I’ll close this ticket, but please feel free to open a new thread if you have any more questions. We are always here to help, it is the sole purpose of the support team and we don’t take it lightly.

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend. Cheers 🙂
