    Update of the unresolved issue:

The event is duplicated even on the screen when I click the date. On the event we edit, we have also included a picture to display. Not sure if we can add the picture to display on the Google Calendar side (if this can be done) before we import the event, so it display in the Events Calendar, not sure if this will help. We added the graphic while editing the event on the Event calendar side.

Again, we only want the reoccurring event to show, with the graphic. Once we added the graphic on the Event Calendar side, the event shows as duplicates, one with the graphic, and one without the graphic. The one without the graphic seems to keep all the same variables, characteristics and styles, but without the graphics as it was originally imported from Google Calendar.

    Please help>>>>

    Hello Mark,

Thanks for reaching out! I’m really sorry you are having this issue with the duplicating events.

To get started on this I need to ask you a few questions.

What is the source of the import? Can you share the url to the feed with me?

What are your settings under Events > Settings > Imports tab? Could you share a screenshot of the whole page there?

    Thanks!

    Andras

The URl of the import is: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/imanicalendar2014%40gmail.com/public/basic.ics

Again, the import comes in fine, it is when I edit the event once it is imported into Event Calendar adding a graphic to it so it shows on the calendar, the event creates a duplicate; one with the graphic and one without the graphics.

I don’t think the import is the issue. Something happens once I edit the imported event once it is imported, this is when the duplicate event is created.

Attached are the final two screenshots as requested.

Here is another case, where the item imported into the Event Calendar okay, I edited the event in Event Calendar to simply add the graphic, once I saved it, and went to the calendar to view, there are two events listed, one with the graphic and one without the graphic. The duplicate event is showing in everyone view.

On the calendar view, please notice on Friday and Wednesday, both the Bible Study and the jail Ministry lines in the attachments.

Please provide a solution as soon as you can. Request from your previous messages have been answered and screenshots have been provided as requested.

    Hello Mark,

I ran some test with the feed you provided.

I imported the “Evening Bible Study” event of May 24 as a one-time import.

Then I added a featured image. Re-imported it as a one-time import. Event got updated, and no duplicate. Image remained.

Then I added a venue and organizer. Re-imported it as a one-time import. Again event got updated, and no duplicate. Image, organizer and venue remained.

Is there any other information you are changing / adding?

Are you using a scheduled import or a one-time?

Between the 2 imports is the original event in google calendar changed in any way?

Try setting the “Event Update Authority” to “Import Events but preserve local changes…” and see if that helps.

    Cheers,
    Andras

Hello thank you for the feedback.

When you edit the event, and add the image, did the image apply to all the events? Once we apply the image to a single event, that is not reoccurring, we also do not experience any problems. Reoccurring events are when we experience the duplications. That is the major issue–We want the image to apply to every reoccurring event.

Regarding the security issues, we will look into that and thank you for the update. We have many security protections in place to include Sitelock, our SSL, and McAfee not sure why you would receive such an alert.

    Hi Mark,

At this time importing recurring events is not fully supported. As it is stated on our Event Aggregator page it “can import recurring events, once imported they will become standalone, single events—rather than a connected series of events.”

    However, duplication shouldn’t happen.

And while I was testing your case I stumbled upon a bug which might be influencing this as well.

When you import a repeating event from Google Calendar, it looks like as if it would import it as recurring, but it’s bugged. So you will need to break up that recurrence on your WordPress site. You can do that by clicking on “Edit single” on the recurrences. (Screenshot) This will break up the recurrence so you can edit the events one by one, however, when you do the next import these will be duplicated.

If you only open the first event for editing (or you click on “Edit All”) and then you save the event, then the recurrences disappear.

I’m sorry if this doesn’t make much sense to you, no worries. Please give me some to investigate more and I’ll get back to you. Thanks for your patience!

    Cheers,
    Andras

I will await your followup. I have tried multiple options, and tired to apply the steps you shared in your last reply, however the same issue is still occurring.

You have a great product however this issue is preventing us from using a feature that is important to us. I hope my issue is being explained clearly over the past few post and a fix can be implemented. We have many reoccurring events and to have a graphic applied to each reoccurrence of event is a feature we hope we can use.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

    Hi Mark,

Yes, the issue is absolutely clear, thanks for the detailed explanations.

I have ticketed the bug we have found (with high priority) and hopefully it is going to be assigned to a developer soon to get it fixed. And I hope that will fix your duplication issue as well.

I just want to add a note here to be transparent and I wouldn’t want you to have the wrong expectations. When the bug is fixed, then most likely the repeating events of the Google Calendar are still going to be imported as separate single events and <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>not</span> as a recurring event series. And thus you will need to set up the image separately for all of the instances.

If that will be the case then this plugin might be useful to you, most probably the premium version.

I am going to set the status of this ticket to “pending fix” and we will update it once the fix is released. If you have any new questions or issues please create a new ticket and we’ll be happy to help you out.

    Thanks and cheers,
    Andras
