ParticipantHi,
Since the latest update the Eventbrite importer is pulling all the relevant text, but not the Eventbrite cover image and making it the featured image like it used to do. Do you have any suggestions on what might be going on?

KeymasterHi Brian,
Thanks so much for reaching out!
I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue!
Would you mind sharing the URL to an event that you are importing so that I can run some testing on my end?
Let me know if you have any other questions in the meantime!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantYep,
Here’s the eventbrite event: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/grow-your-social-media-base-tickets-48131286975
And here’s the result from importing that event on my end: https://www.nonprofitcommunicators.com/event/how-to-grow-your-social-media-base/

KeymasterHi Brian,
Thanks for providing me with that information.
I tested the functionality with the URL that you provided and I did see the featured image come over from Eventbrite.
When you go to edit this event on the backend, do you see the featured image there?
Can you also check out the Eventbrite settings that you have on that page, specifically the one that I have annotated in the following screenshot:

Let me know if that helps!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantStill having the problem. I checked that setting you referred to and it looks correct. Attached a screenshot here.
Just FYI, we had the same issue on another event, but just manually added the featured image. https://www.nonprofitcommunicators.com/event/open-source-tools-for-media-analysis/ Just pointing out that this doesn’t seem to be just about the one event.
Would there be another setting that’s blocking the image? I imagine the Eventbrite cover image is large enough, but is there any filter that if the image isn’t at a certain dimension it isn’t pulled from Eventbrite? Just spitballing here.

ParticipantAlso, FYI, here’s the eventbrite event for the other event I referenced above – https://www.eventbrite.com/e/open-source-tools-for-media-analysis-tickets-47821069105

KeymasterHi Brian,
As a next step, let’s try to rule out if there is some type of conflict at play.
This is usually because of:- A conflict with another plugin
- A conflict with your WordPress theme
- A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating
When it comes to that type of issue, it is preferable to troubleshoot in a staging environment if you have one.
A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.
The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.
Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:
- Make a backup of your database
- Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)
Also, can you please enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG and share any debug messages you see?
Let me know how that goes!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantI’ll have to get a dev domain up and running. Stick with me…for a while.

ParticipantI can’t get the Event Cal Admin to release the license key in order to apply the key to the staging page. I’m at a stand still.
The original site has been removed from my account on the modern tribe site and it’s also been removed from the admin on the original site. I’m still getting an error of:
You are using The Events Calendar: Eventbrite Tickets but your license key is out of installs. Visit the Events Calendar website to manage your installs, upgrade your license, or purchase a new one.

ParticipantNevermind, it’s working now.

ParticipantFYI, the images did pull from eventbrite once I reverted to twentysixteen theme. Going through the conflict test…

ParticipantNow I’m confused. I reactivated my theme – Astra Child and the import worked correctly again. Not sure what’s happening there. I’ll try it on the live site.

ParticipantWell, oddly, it seems like the issue has been resolved, but I can’t say anything was ‘changed’ or ‘fixed.’ The importer is working again.
