ParticipantOk. Here we go again. Once again the iCal importer is duplicating events. It seems once it runs as a scheduled daily job is when it occurs!
Please help!! This is really really bad to be happening again.

ParticipantHey @fxidesigns,
I’m genuinely sorry to hear that issues are persisting.
Josh shared a snippet in your other thread on this topic, and I’m wondering if you are able to try that out and find some progress with these issues? Here’s a link to where the snippet is shared → https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/ical-importer-duplicating-events/
Next, in that thread you say this:
Actually I have deleted the events using a SQL command… however it does seem to work now that I optimized the DB
Is this DB optimization something you can perform again, if the above-shared code snippet doesn’t help?
Finally, for now, it has been mentioned in some of your threads but I wanted to restate the fact that we do have some known bugs here. I’m sorry that we haven’t been able to fix these on-demand immediately; we’re working on them! We are hoping to release a “maintenance release” soon and have several iCal-related bugs prioritized for that release.
Your patience thus far, and going forward, is much appreciated. I hope that either the snippet that Josh wrote, which I shared above, or your DB Optimization fix are temporary solutions that can help until a proper fix arrives. Let me know if this is the case.
Thank you,
George
PS
You mention that this job is a “daily” job–how many events are typically imported each time the job is run? It’s probably a bit different each time, but I mean in general–is it usually “dozens” of events? Hundreds? Or just handful of events, typically? Just curious about this. Thanks!

ParticipantThe snippet Josh mentioned was ONLY to keep deleted events from being changed to a deleted event type. It has no effect on the actual issues with duplicate events.
I have performed the DB optimization. However that only removes the deleted records its not a temporary fix. Additionally no on mentioned that the duplicate issue was NOT fixed. If thats the case then I will disable my daily imports until one arrives.
Lastly there are about 150 events imported from the iCal feed… but it duplicated ALL events everytime the process runs.

ParticipantHey @fxidesigns,
Thank you for elaborating on some of the details here! I can confirm that the issues with duplication are NOT officially fixed yet; we have had trouble pinning down the exact cause of the bug but are working actively on a fix. I know this isn’t very satisfying, and we’re hoping to get it out the door as soon as possible. I’m sorry about the pace of getting this fixed, genuinely.
To be clear, do you mean that each daily import brings in about 150 events?
Thank you!
