ParticipantHello,
I just purchased this plugin in hopes to simply my events management.
However, when trying to import an iCal link it does not work. Only 13 events are returned, the start and end dates are set to ‘Jan 1970’ and only the event title is coming through.
Here is the iCal link:

MemberHi there @accesswinnipeg,
Thanks for reaching out to us, and sorry to hear about this issues. I’ll help you getting this right…
I’ve imported the feed and indeed the importer is finding 13 events (this might be due to the date range). Regarding the empty content this is because there’s no DESCRIPTION field in the ics feed.
Can you clarify a bit on the start and end dates are set to ‘Jan 1970’? Is this happening after import?
Please let me know about it,
Best,
NicoApril 19, 2016 at 6:10 am #1104175accesswinnipeg
ParticipantThis is happening before i do the upload. I’ve attached a screenshot.
Start Date/Time, End Date/Time, and venue are not coming over.
Also, I am not using and filters when searching so I’m not sure why only 13 results are coming in (now its only 12 coming in)

ParticipantAn example of the Justin Bieber in iCal:
VEVENT BEGIN:
VEVENT UID:[email protected]
DTSTART:20160611T193000
DTEND:20160611T000000
SUMMARY:Justin Bieber
URL:http://www.mtscentre.ca/calendar-events/justin-bieber/
LOCATION:MTS Centre
ENDDTSTART is not coming in.
DTEND is not coming in.
SUMMARY coming in as event title.
URL is not coming in. (OK)
LOCATION is not coming inApril 20, 2016 at 5:11 am #1104763Nico
MemberHi @accesswinnipeg,
Thanks for following up on this!
This is happening before i do the upload. I’ve attached a screenshot. Start Date/Time, End Date/Time, and venue are not coming over.
Indeed there’s an issue with star date and end dates. The venue is not shown in this table, so there’s no error on that.
Also, I am not using and filters when searching so I’m not sure why only 13 results are coming in (now its only 12 coming in)
By default the filters set the date ‘from’ to the actual day, so you are only seeing upcoming events in there. Try to change this date to see past events available as well.
Regarding the sample event you sent, you mean those fields are not getting imported or they are not showing up in the pre-import page. If the later is the case then it’s ok, because those fields are not intended to show up there. On the fields ‘mapping’, the summary field is used as the title while the description field is used for the event content.
So, for now the only error I’m seeing is the dates appear as ‘jan 1970’ for you. I found a logged bug about this issue, in the issue description it seems this is happening only with version 4.1.1 of the plugin. Is this the version you are using? It would be great if you could share your system information with me so I can check if everything looks right on that end.

ParticipantThese were my expected results:
ICS CONTENTS:
VEVENT BEGIN:
VEVENT UID:[email protected]
DTSTART:20160611T193000
DTEND:20160611T000000
SUMMARY:Justin Bieber
URL:http://www.mtscentre.ca/calendar-events/justin-bieber/
LOCATION:MTS Centre
ENDEXPECTED RESULTS:
DTSTART: To map to Start Date/Time (Not Working)
DTEND: To map to End Date/Time (Not Working)
SUMMARY: To map to Event Title (Good)
URL: To be ignored (Good)
LOCATION: To map to Venue (If this is not how it was meant to be, is there a hook I use to for the plugin to map LOCATION in the ICS to VENUE?)April 21, 2016 at 1:20 pm #1105629Nico
MemberHi there,
Thanks for following up and for sending over system info. Looks like the maintenance release (coming out next week) should fix the dates issue. Nevertheless I’ll try to reproduce the issue with your date format settings. Regarding the expected results you commented:
URL: will be imported as the event URL.
LOCATION: will create a new venue, and the name will be the address (the string really) that in the ical location line.I’ll dig a bit more into the date issue to make sure the coming fix will solve it, or to see if this is a new issue we should be addressing.
I’ll give you a heads-up on this tomorrow,
Best,

ParticipantIn the .ics file, LOCATION is set to “MTS Centre”
I have a venue called “MTS Centre”. Is there any way I can get the .ics import to map to my venue?

MemberHi there,
Thanks for the patience while I looked into this!
I have a venue called “MTS Centre”. Is there any way I can get the .ics import to map to my venue?
Yes, if there’s an existing venue with the same name it will be mapped to the existing venue in your site.
Regarding the date issue, I’ve tried to reproduce once again (this time with the same settings) but it’s bringing the date correctly: https://cloudup.com/cHkROdnzDiD – I previously imported some of the events that’s why the list is shorter, but the dates are showing and importing correctly.
Can you please send me a screenshot of your WordPress settings page?
Thanks,

MemberThanks for following up with the requested info!
I’m still not able to reproduce this issue even with the exact same settings you are using 🙁
As I stated before there’s a related bugfix coming out in the next maintenance release that could solve this issue. In fact the upcoming maintenance release, scheduled for later this week is heavily focused in solving different issues with iCal importer plugin, so I’m hoping this one gets fixed as well. Can you wait till the release is out and re-test this once the plugins are updated?
One more thing are you downloading the file and choosing .ics File as source or are you using the iCal URL source, and inputing the feed URL? Can you try to switch to the other option? I tried both but they work well for me.
