The ical Import Month’s Event button disappears when there are no events to import. Then when you click to another month that DOES have events, the button does not appear again, unless you reload the page. My user base does not like this. Also, they want to be able to import the entire school year all at once as an option. Is there a way to make these two things work, or are they bugs you are currently working on?

We definitely know about the iCal Import button disappearing in certain themes that use AJAX heavily. As far as exporting more than a month at a time, that is not currently supported, nor is subscribing to the events as an iCal feed. The snippet should be included in your theme’s functions.php file. If you’re unfamiliar with this process, please check out this helpful article on the WP Codex site: http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes#Using_functions.php.
