Hi, I need a iCal feed for each event category. The feed must only get the events relative to the selected category.

    I tried this:

    https://novaigreja.com/eventos/list/?tribe_paged=1&tribe_event_display=list&tribe_eventcategory%5B%5D=223&ical=1&tribe_display=list

but it gives me back all my events instead of only the events on category 223.

    I also tried this:

    https://novaigreja.com/eventos/categoria/barra/?ical=1

but it gives me back no events at all instead of giving me the events on category “barra”.

    What am I missing here?

    Thanks!

    Hi Mauricio!

Thanks for getting in touch with us! Let me help you with this.

You should be able to fetch the events by category using the url you provided > https://novaigreja.com/eventos/categoria/barra/?ical=1

But I don’t see any events showing up for that category > https://novaigreja.com/eventos/categoria/barra

Could you please try using a category that has upcoming events and see if it works?

    Let me know about it.

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Hey Victor,

all of these categories (barra, ipanema, brasilia) have upcoming events, but the response is the same as before.

    Hi Mauricio!

You’re right. I can see there is an event for those categories but the ical feed is empty.

I’m not able to reproduce this in my own installation, so there might be some conflict. I can see that you are customizing the categories slug. Are you using some custom coding to achieve this? Could you please try using the default category slug and see if any difference? try flushing the permalinks structure when you do.

If it doesn’t change anything, this could also relate to a theme or plugin conflict, so to narrow the problem down please go through the steps provided in the testing for conflicts guide > https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/ and let us know what you find in the process.

We suggest you setup a dev/staging site so you can make all these tests without disrupting the live site.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Hi Victor,

found the problem. It’s an issue with Easy Content Types plugin. I have a custom content type created with this plugin, so I can’t simply disable it.

How can I figure out what is causing the conflict?

    Hi Mauricio!

Great job finding the conflicting plugin. I could not find the Easy Content Types plugin in the WordPress repository. Could you please send us a copy of the plugin in a private reply?

Also, could you please let me know more about what the plugin does and how are you using it for your site?

I will try to run some tests with it and see if I can reproduce the issue. Additionally, please enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG. This will create a debug.log file inside the /wp-content directory.

After that, try reproducing the issue a few times, so that in case there is an error, it will be saved into the debug.log file. Please share that log file with us so we can see if any problem from there.

I’d suggest you also get in touch with the plugin authors and see if they can help locate the source of the problem.

    Thanks,
    Victor

    Hi Mauricio,

Thanks for coming back with all that information.

I tried installing Easy Content Types plugin on a clean WordPress installation and I got the following error message: ‘The plugin generated 5887 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.

Additionally, I got the same database errors in the debug.log file, so I suggest you get in touch with the plugin authors and see if they can help you out with these errors.

Please let us know if there is anything on our end we can do to help.

    Best,
    Victor

    Hi Mauricio!

Sure thing! As you marked this resolved I’ll go ahead and close it. But do feel free to open a new topic if anything comes up and we’ll be happy to help.

    Best,
