ParticipantHi there
I have a problem like this thread.
Events are showing a day too early when exported to iCal. Google Calendar export is all ok.
I’m using Pro. I tried changing the end time from 12am to 2am, however this just made the event dates be the wrong days.
Also, is there a way to prevent the whole content from being saved to the Notes section? I’m using Visual Composer, so it brings across the code for the rows etc. If I could choose just to put the excerpt into the Note that would be awesome.
Thank you

ParticipantTo confirm, I have checked and WordPress time zone is ok (my time zone), and it is the correct timezone on the events.
I just enabled Timezone Settings in The Events Calendar settings, and chose to use local timezones for each event (and show timezones). This did not make a difference to the incorrect export.
These are all day events that I’m having the issue with. I have tested with a time based event (see Test Event) and it exports to the correct day.
Thanks

MemberHi Kate,
Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear about this issue! I’ll try to help you here.
I’ve searched our backlog and found a bug that relates to the issue you describe and I’m mostly sure it’s the cause of what you are experiencing. A fix for this is shipping with the new version of our products (4.0) coming out really soon (today/tomorrow hopefully). Can you test this after updating the plugins?
Please let me know if the update fixes the issue for you,
Best,

ParticipantHi Nico
Thanks for your reply.
I’ve updated everything to 4.0, but the iCal export to wrong dates issue is still there.
Also, do you have any tips for me re my question about the Notes section in iCal export?
Thanks very much

MemberHey Kate,
Sorry to hear the update didn’t fix this issue (I was mostly sure the would be fixed once the related issue got addressed) 🙁 This sounds like a bug for sure, but I would like to be able to reproduce this locally before logging it. Can you send me a sample event start and end dates (and any other info useful to reproduce this)? I already see wordpress timezone is set to australia/brisbane and server timezone is utc.
Regarding your other question, sorry I missed it before, my bad. Take a look at this answer to the same question by Barry.
Please let me know if Barry’s solution worked this out,
Best,

ParticipantThank you – great news about the calendar export excerpt!
I have used the code from that post to make the Google Calendar use the excerpt instead of full content.
I found this code to do the same for iCal export. Working perfectly 🙂
I’ll send a private reply re specific details on the start/end dates of the events.
Thank you

MemberHey Kate,
Thanks for the detailed follow-ups! Definitively that’s whats happening, everything is getting exported in UTC. I wonder, when you try to import these events into a calendar app (Google Calendar for example), Do you do so on a calendar with the ‘Australia/Brisbane’ timezone set up? Can you try that?
Have a great weekend, and thanks for being so collaborative in the process of figuring this out,

ParticipantI have the same issue. 7:15pm event gets imported into ical as an 8:15am event….

ParticipantHi Nico
As mentioned, when I export to Google Calendar, the times and dates are correct.
When I looked at the settings of this Google calendar, it said:
This calendar uses your current time zone: (GMT+10:00) Eastern Time – BrisbaneI also tried changing my iCal to use Australian Eastern Standard Time (it didn’t have time zone turned on previously), but that doesn’t make a difference – the events are still being exported as UTC.
What do we need to do to solve and finalise this?
Thanks very much

MemberHi Kate and Tommy,
Just wanted to let you know I’m running some additional test on my end, with different timezones settings and importing to different calendars.
I’ll keep you updated, surely later today I’ll have news on this.
Thanks for the patience on this,
Best,
