Ical Export by catagory

I was wondering if the Filter Ad on had the ability to provide ical/google calendar export by category.

For example if a user searched for a specific category on my calendar – every event is categorized by the type of team – when the results are show, would the “export months” events only export those filtered events?

We have 9 different teams and most members are only interested in their own team’s events. If one was to export a month’s events now, they would get everything.

Hi Denise.

If you navigate to each Event Category view, such as http://wpshindig.com/events/category/learning/list/ from our demo site, you can use the “Export Events” link in the bottom-right corner.

This functionality is available in the free/core The Events Calendar. The Filter Bar add-on is not required for it, but it can help people navigate to each Event Category.

Not really….

when I try to filter by category on my site without the add on, it imports the entire set of events.

Your test site seemed to work by limiting the events to category on the import. I’m just not sure the difference.

Ok, I think I’m getting there.

For reasons I can’t figure out, I can render the same list view that you did by category. The categories disappear when I move off the month view.

How did you manage to render the list view by category?

So an interesting quirk has come up…

I can replicate your results on my ipad and iphone but not on my laptop.

I select a category on the month view, it shows the category events.
I select list view, I no longer see the events in the categories from the previous screen nor the categories themselves.

On my ipad and iphone I can generate a list view on any category.

Thoughts?

Well that works for me but won’t be much use to my non-admin users.

You can create your own custom menu of Event Categories, like this.

You could then use a Menu widget along with this Event Calendar Widget Areas plugin.
