Julie
ParticipantWhen click/hover over any events in our calendar, codes show up and replicate the events. I noticed this 2 days ago and I want to know how to correct this situation.
A couple of things happened in the past a few days:
– I accepted Events Calendar Shortcode 1.4.1. update
– My Event Calendar Pro 3.3… was out of date and my license was about to expire on Jan 29th and I renewed my license.
– Today I updated Event Calendar Pro 4.4.1If I have to deactivate the shortcode, would you please help me how to deactivate as well.
Thanks

MemberGood evening Julie and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the undesired code showing up on your calendar.
I would love to help you with this topic. It looks like that extra code might be coming from a template customization.
Basically, if you look in your theme or child theme’s folder, try to see if there is a /tribe-events/ folder. If there is, it looks like this customization might be in dire need of updating.
This is because a lot has changed since 3.3You can temporarily rename that folder /z_tribe-events/ to see if that helps.
Could you please send me a copy of the latest version of your WordPress theme / child theme via a link to a .zip file link (stored Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ? I recommend a private reply for that purpose.
Please ensure you are using the latest files as found on your actual website.
This way I will get access to any updates or customizations you might have made.Additionally, I do not think you will need the Events Calendar shortcode plugin anymore (but this is your call).
With the most recent versions of our Pro add-on, shortcodes are built-in:
- https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/embedding-calendar-views-tribe_events-shortcode/
Finally, as a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

MemberGood evening Julie,
Thank you for writing back and for the system information.
I will try to address each point individually to keep things nice and tidy.
Basically, if you look in your theme or child theme¹s folder, try to see if there is a /tribe-events/ folder. ‹‹> I don¹t see
If there is such a folder, you should see this in /wp-content/themes/highend/ or in /wp-content/themes/highend-child/
To access those files, you will need an FTP client or the file manager from your CPanel interface.
So in other words this is not in WordPress itself, but rather directly on your server.
If that is too complex, as a test, could you temporarily switch themes and see if the problem persists while using a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen ?
Additionally, I do not think you will need the Events Calendar shortcode plugin anymore (but this is your call). ‹‹-Do I then deactivate by simply clicking ³deactivate²?
Yes, simply clicking deactivate should do it. But, you will need to replace your old shortcodes with the new ones (they do not have the exact same syntax).
Have a good weekend,
Geoff B.

ParticipantHi, there
I am following up on my previous message. The issue has not been resolved
and I have not heard from you since my response.
Your immediate help would be very much appreciated.February 2, 2017 at 10:59 pm #1228729Geoff B.
MemberGood evening Julie,
It seems like the automated emails of my replies are somehow not making it through to you.
Our apologies for this unfortunate situation.Hopefully this message will get to your inbox.
To avoid any further delays, I would recommend logging in to the forums instead of relying solely on email. At this point, to move things along, here are the recommended next steps:
- Could you please send me a copy of the latest version of your WordPress theme / child theme via a link to a .zip file link (stored Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ? I recommend a private reply for that purpose.
Please ensure you are using the latest files as found on your actual website.
This way I will get access to any updates or customizations you might have made. - Could you temporarily switch themes (after a database backup) to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen ?
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
