Mohamed
MemberHi there, I just bought Event Calendar Pro and it’s awesome! I have 2 questions. (I’ve searched the forum and google but couldn’t find an answer)
Question #1
I have the Dutch language installed and would like to edit certain things I think could be translated better. I have tried to edit the tribe-events-calendar-nl_NL.po but that didn’t change anything. What am I doing wrong?Question #2
I have set-up my calendar in event list view. At the top of the calendar it has the title “Calendar of Events” or “Kalender van activiteiten” in Dutch. How can I remove that title? Thanks in advance! 😉

MemberHi there Mohamed. Thanks for the support, and the words. On these items:
Question #1: you’d want to do this in a tool like POEdit; you would make changes to the .po file, but upon saving those would also generate a .mo file. You need both the .po and .mo file appropriately labeled and in your lang folder within the plugin code for these changes to take effect. My guess is that you didn’t have the .mo. Let me know if that’s possible.
Question #2: if I understand your question, this thread sounds like it’ll help: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/how-do-i-edit-the-calendar-of-events-page/. Let me know if not though, and I can take another look.

ParticipantHi Rob,
I’m having trouble seeing the changes in my language file too.
I want to keep things English but change a dozen or so labels. So I used POEdit to generate new po and mo files from tribe-events-calendar.pot. I read in another forum post that saving permalinks usually “refreshes” everything but my changes still aren’t showing. Any suggestions?May 15, 2012 at 3:01 pm #19218Rob
MemberHi James. Thanks for the follow-up, and apologies for the delayed response on this. Have you changed the language in your wp-config file as well? Are you possibly running any language-related plugins like qTranslate or anything else? Let me know and we’ll try to help you out. Thanks for being patient so far.

ParticipantHey Rob, thanks for the response. I left wp-config alone because I still want English as the default but to make some large scale label substitutions (like every instance of Events for example). I thought I could do that using POEdit to to generate new .mo and .po (tribe-events-calendar.mo and tribe-events-calendar.po) but that didn’t appear to work. I did read in one forum post that re-saving permalinks is supposed to help get those language file changes recognized but that didn’t seem to do anything for me. I am not using any other language plugins. Thanks!

MemberHey James, thanks for confirming as much. I’m sort of at a loss as to what could be the issue here and I haven’t encountered this issue before, so I’ve asked Jonah from our dev team to take a look when he hits the forums next. Stay tuned and thanks for being patient so far.

ParticipantHi James, I’ve just modified our FAQ on setting the language with more specific details on how to actually create the files and set the language: https://theeventscalendar.com/faq/can-i-change-the-language-that-the-content-of-my-calendar-appears-in-on-the-site/ – check it out, that might help you…
I think what you’ve got to do is rename your .po file to be something like tribe-events-calendar-en_EN.po – you’ll need to load this back into PoEdit to resave and regenerate the .mo file and then in your wp-config.php set the WP_LANG like so: define(‘WPLANG’, ‘en_EN’);
Resave your permalinks as well and that should work. Let me know if you are still running into troubles.
Cheers,

ParticipantHas anyone got an answer to this question ?
I just want to change some of the language terms in the english version… like change Events to Courses ?
I have found it verry difficult to find an answer to this question…
I can see the point in paying for support when the Modern Tribe team dont answer an questions. They have no direct support ! just post in a forum for a “help yourself group” .
I havent found anyone who can actually edit the english language file.
The link that James lists (above) https://theeventscalendar.com/faq/can-i-change-the-language-that-the-content-of-my-calendar-appears-in-on-the-site/ in no longer working.
I have never seen a language file so hard to edit and upload to get the changes showing on the front end…
Anyone have any idea of how to solve this issue ?
