    Can I use QR codes to check people in? For example, if people are coming to a concert and show up with paper tickets with a QR code on them, can I use my smartphone to check them in at the gate and have their check-in reflected in WordPress?

    We do not have QR code checking yet,

    It was to quite ready for 4.0 unfortunately.

    Unfortunately, I do not believe it is. I think it is tentative slated for after 4.1, but that could change.

    Hi,

    I just downloaded the new 4.0 plugins and set it up on a test platform. The tickets do seem to spit out QR-codes. So what can they be use for at the moment?

    I am not see the QR codes on my test site.


    Where are you seeing those? Could it be from another plugin?

    It is a feature we are working on, but not released yet.

    Hi,

    Sorry about the confusion here. I was under the impression QR codes were not included in 4.0.

    However, they are indeed included in 4.0.

    How to check in using Ticket Plus’s QR Codes:

    1. Get an App for your phone or tablet that can read QR codes (Scan for IOS is what I use)
    2. Setup the Scanner App to open in a browser or in the app itself
    3. In either sign into your site with at least a author level account or create a special account with edit_posts and read capabilities (User Role Editor is an easy plugin to do this with)
    4. Scan the QR Code and you will get a success message such as “This Ticket with ID xxxx was checked in.”

    If you are just seeing the event page with no success message it does not recognize you as logged in.

    If anyone is having issues with this, please create a new ticket and we can help out.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the answer! I’m glad it was not something on our side.

    We have some concerns on the QR-codes option tho and before we update to 4.x we would like to know how to disable QR-codes. But I think it’s somewhere on the forums already.

    The concerns are:
    – The check-in is a back-end solution while in the community options we set-up back-end block for everybody except admin. So when an event/ticket wants to use QR-codes they get redirected to the frontend without succesfull QR-code checking.

    – We were able to check-in the same QR code multiple times without an error warning like “This ticket has already been checked in”

    I hope 4.1 will further enhance the QR-code capabilities because, in our opinion, it is not very usefull this way.

    Is it indeed possible to remove QR-codes with:
    remove_action( ‘tribe_tickets_ticket_email_ticket_bottom’, array( Tribe__Tickets_Plus_Main::instance()->qr(), ‘inject_qr’ ) );?

    Could you perhaps add a setting such that people can choose whether to allow a QR code to be scanned multiple times or only once? Or maybe even make the setting include the exact number of times any one QR code can be scanned for check-in. This would be useful in situations where, say, at a carnival or fair, people can leave and come back as many times as they wish, but at a venue where you can only enter once or you don’t want people “cheating” by printing multiple same tickets for friends you could restrict it to one scan per ticket.

    I am going to make a bug report to restrict this to one check-in.

    For the front end check in or multi check-ins please head to our UserVoice Page and add your own or upvote that feature as they will increase the chances of it being added to a future version.

    Thank you for reporting this issue. We weren’t able to get a fix for it into our upcoming release (4.1). However, please know that the problem is still on our radar and is ticketed within our system to be addressed in a future maintenance release.
