How do I put the main events page on the front page of my site/blog?

I checked the thread but the plugin surgested is not maintained.
Currently I use the Advanced Twenty Seventeen Child theme.
Does Events Calendar not have its own theme with this functionality build in and being able to run Ads in the sidebar next to the events?
