homepage with photo view row of 3 upcoming events

Hi,
I’d like to have a photo view of 3 events on the homepage, and a full page of events with all annual events on a separate calendar page.
I tried this short code but the limit=”x” doensn’t do anything.
[tribe_events view=”photo” limit=”3″]

looking through previous threads, I found the following relevant ones.

2. https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/limit-photo-view-widget-to-3-events/
but they’re not helping me further.

I understand the limit=”3″ only works for widgets, but the photo view of 3 isn’t available there?

Please advise how to achieve the row of 3 upcoming events on the homepage, without changing the amount of events on the full calender page

Although this is not something that our plugin does out of the box, I’d encourage you to vote on this idea in our Feature Requests here, as we often implement ideas based on customer feedback, so your input is greatly appreciated:

This feature request also contains a snippet which may be able to help you to achieve the results that you are looking for.

Thanks for the info above, I had a look through and tried out both code snippets.

I voted for the Feature Request here, and tried out the code snipped here: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/reply/1217300/

The first code snipped isn’t solving my problem as I am also using a shortcode page for the full calendar page with all events, and the code snippet affects this page also.

the second code snippet however gives me the desired result, as it applies only to the home page.
