ParticipantI have maps enabled in my events calendar but I’m not getting any map results. Would also like to have a “Google Maps” link on my month view tool tip as seen on your website.
Is it possible to style the tool tip to be similar to this… https://gkskinnypasta.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Screen-Shot-2016-01-14-at-2.23.32-PM.pngJanuary 18, 2016 at 11:15 am #1058002Geoff B.
MemberGood afternoon Ryan and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forums!
Thank you for your questions.
I have maps enabled in my events calendar but I’m not getting any map results.
I am not sure what you mean by not getting any map results ?
Based on the title of your thread, I believe you are expecting to see a tooltip. If that’s the case, please know that displaying the map link in the tooltip is not a built-in feature.
Could you please confirm ?
By the way, are you familiar with the Map view ? I’m mentioning it because I think this might be useful to you.
It is one of our Events Calendar Pro amazing features, which would require an additional license on your end.Would also like to have a “Google Maps” link on my month view tool tip as seen on your website.
That is absolutely feasible. Please read:
- My colleague George’s post on that topic (until the end)
- My colleague Nico’s general post on adding information to the tooltip
Let me know if that answers your questions.
Have an awesome day in Montreal (which is where I am located too)!

MemberHi again Ryan,
I just noticed that the rest of the title said that you can’t see the map on the event info page as well.
Sorry about that.Could you please send me the URL of an example ?
Best regards,
Geoff B.

MemberHello again Ryan,
Thank you for your quick reply.
Re: tooltip…. In the examples of tool tips I see on the events calendar website
I guess you are referring to our showcase page, correct ?
If that’s the case, just to clarify, a lot of these examples are installations that were customized by our clients.
We are sorry for any confusion this might create. As stated in my previous answer, the Google maps link in the tooltip is unfortunately not a built-in feature.
But, the good news is that you can absolutely customize your installation to your liking too!
The best way to accomplish that is to follow our Themer’s guide along side the 2 links I sent you.
As a side note, the Google Chrome Inspector is giving me a couple of error message on your website:
- Failed to load resource: net::ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT https://platform.twitter.com/oct.js
- Uncaught ReferenceError: twttr is not defined
avia.js:893 e.fn.init[1]0: body#top.single.single-tribe_events.postid-10659.stretched.helvetica-neue-websave._helvetica_neue.tribe-filter-live.events-single.tribe-events-style-full.tribe-theme-parent-enfold.tribe-theme-child-gkskinnypasta.tribe-events-page-template.tribe-is-responsivecontext: documentlength: 1prevObject: m.fn.init[1]selector: “body”__proto__: m[0]
Is there anything else I can help you with on this topic ?
Best regards,

ParticipantDoes the google map link have to be custom coded to show up on the individual event info page… https://gkskinnypasta.com/event/marche-tau-st-leonard-catherine/

MemberHi again Ryan,
Does the google map link have to be custom coded to show up on the individual event info page…
No, that should display directly on the page under normal circumstances.
We would be happy to help you troubleshoot (and solve) this part of the issue.
The first step would be to follow our Testing for Conflicts guide and tell us about your findings.
Can you also provide me, in a private reply, with a screenshot of the details of the Event , more specifically of the Location section of the Events Calendar Metabox?
Thank you,
Geoff B.

MemberThank you for the screenshots Ryan.
Based on what I am seeing in the screenshots, what you have told me so far and some inspection of your web page, here’s what I have found out.
You were right, the tribe-events-meta-group-gmap div is not showing at all on your website it’s nowhere to be found.
Since it’s not being generated, this leaves us with a couple of possible causes for the issue you are experiencing:
- I am assuming that these Events were imported to the Events Calendar using the iCal importer (based on your last post). If that’s the case, can you provide me with a screenshot of what your the Edit Events page (in WordPress’s backend) looks like please ? There might be something off with the LOCATION section as part of the iCal import.
- It is possible that there is a conflict with one of the plugins you have on your site (which can be established if you follow our Testing for Conflicts guidefollow our Testing for Conflicts guide). Can you please test this.
I’m pretty confident that one of these 2 suggestions will help us display the Maps properly.
Thanks once again for sticking through the troubleshooting process.
Have a great weekend,
Geoff B.

ParticipantTested with a new “dummy” event as advised (input directly into WP backend.) – still no google maps link on month view or individual event view (this was tested with only Events plugins active on 2015 theme)
My iCal settings are import every hour.
January 25, 2016 at 4:18 pm #1062130ryan
ParticipantUpdate: when I created a dummy event earlier I picked one of the venues already on the drop down list. I just created another dummy event with a new address and the google link (and map) appear on the individual event info page but DOES NOT show on the tool tip in Month View.
Something wrong with the way we are inputting location into iCal? Something wrong with how the plugin is handling that data?

MemberGood afternoon Ryan,
Thank you for doing that last test I recommended and providing me with your settings.

That was indeed the purpose of that test (to see the issue is related to iCal imports, the address format or something else).
As for the map appearing in the tooltip on the month view, as discussed previously, it is not built-in functionality to be able to display the map in the tooltip. The good news is that you can accomplish that through template customization. The only place it will appear, built-in, is in the individual event page.
As an alternative, you might be interested in the Map view that comes with the Events Calendar Pro. Check it out in the following example.
Something wrong with the way we are inputting location into iCal? Something wrong with how the plugin is handling that data?
I will investigate this further (see my follow-up private reply) and if need be, escalate it.
Thank you again and we are almost there!
Have a great afternoon,
Geoff B.
