ParticipantHi all, I’m getting search console errors for rich results markup. It’s telling me I’m missing the “location” though the events I have published that are receiving errors have locations attached to them. Also, I’m getting “warnings” for events without URL’s, locations, and other missing “optional” fields. First should I be worried? Some events don’t need URL’s. Second, what do you suggest? This is new to me for indexing, though I know Google is publishing events in search results now.
Of note is that all of the events are in the past.
Screenshot attached.
Thanks!

ParticipantI’ve got the same problem. It’s never happened before and I’ve been using The Events Calendar for a few years and have made no changes recently.
The error message I received says:
“Fix Events markup for https://www.herefordequestrian.co.uk/
Google systems show that your site is affected by 660 instances of Events markup issues. This means that your Events pages might not appear as rich results in Google Search.”Screenshot of example as shown on Google console attached.

ParticipantSeeing the same issue across a number of sites. Look forward to any feedback on how to remedy.

MemberHi @danielcpalmer, I do see that you have a location specified and experienced the same results from testing that you are seeing.
We’ve seen an uptick in similar reports. Our developers will investigate this further, but in many cases, there is no reason for alarm. The error message you see is from a legacy format. We now also use JSON-LD data, which still passes all the results along for Google’s rich snippets. Deprecating the now outdated method by us removing the code entirely is bad form, but will not harm your rankings. Ultimately, it seems to be a false alarm so far.
To help us troubleshoot this, can you please share your System Info https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/ with us? Please do so as a private reply.
@sallynewcomb & @thewebadvisors Thanks for the heads up. We’re definitely diving in to sort out these new errors. Would you each open a new thread, and share your System Info https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/ as well? Thanks

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
