ParticipantHi again Events Calendar Support,
Thanks so much for your previous help with tweaking the page formatting. Everything’s coming along well now, with one exception. The button to export an event to Google Calendar (from the single event view) brings me to my Google Calendar page (the today view), but doesn’t seem to bring any event details with it. In other words, it opens Google Calendar but doesn’t prompt the calendar to import the event at all. The iCal export seems to work just fine. Perhaps the issue is that this first event I’ve created lasts for a series of days (but is not recurring)? Would it be possible for someone to quickly click on the Google Calendar button and just check to see if the export code seems to be functioning correctly? Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated! Thanks so much again for all your help.
Here’s the particular URL for the event in question from my test site: http://shivashakti.tinymainehomestead.com/event/silence-simplicity-retreat-2017/
Yours,

ModeratorHey Curtis,
Thank you for posting to our premium plugin support forums and I hope your New Year is off to a great start! I attempted to reproduce the behavior you’ve described, but everything worked fine when I exported a single event using the ‘+ Google Calendar‘ export option.
I see you checked ‘Yes’ to reverting back to the default WordPress theme and deactivating all plugins other than ours as instructed in the Testing for conflicts guide, but can you please confirm this?
It might be best you set up a fresh WordPress installation where you can fully troubleshoot the issue. Please review our Using One License for Live and Dev Sites for more information. Please make sure the only themes/plugins installed include the default WordPress theme and The Events Calendar/Events Calendar PRO. I’d test to see if the issue still occurs both with TEC and PRO active, then with just TEC active.
Make sure WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG are enabled on your site’s wp-config.php file. Any errors will display at the top of your page as you try to reproduce the conflict. Note what you find and please include it in your reply.
Please keep me updated and have a wonderful evening. Cheers!

ParticipantHi Hunter,
Thanks so much for taking the time to look at the problem for me. Did the Google import calendar function work for you in that it opened up the import dialog in Google Calendar?
The button was generating the right link syntax, so I didn’t think it was a plugin conflict (I had disabled all the other plugins when I tested the issue before I submitted the ticket, though I then — perhaps unhelpfully — re-enabled them to continue development). I compared the syntax of the Google URL (https://calendar.google.com/calendar/render?action=TEMPLATE& … ) with one of your working demo sites and I think I found the problem…
Turns out my import URL works just fine once you add a start and end time to the dates (so that the URL reads not “&dates=20170921/20170925” but, for instance, “&dates=20170921T180000/20170925T191500”). Even though Google Calendar can handle all-day events, for the purposes of importing you need to specify hours. So just an FYI for anyone else who might have this issue. Simple fix, and I regret not trying that before posting here and saving you some time!
Thanks so much! This issue’s resolved!

ModeratorHey Curtis,
Awesome! I appreciate the update and you sharing what you found out as it may be useful for other users in the same situation. I attempted to reproduce the behavior and was able to do so. This obviously is not how the plugin should behave, so I logged a bug report for the developers to review.
I don’t have a precise date when a fix will be available, but please stay tuned to our Release Notes and the plugin changelogs for more information. Thanks again and let me know if you’ve got any additional questions or comments. Cheers!

ParticipantHi Hunter,
Thanks for the follow-up! I’m glad we’re at least getting consistent behavior and that there’s a workaround for the moment. Honestly it’s not too much trouble to add in start and end times on a range of days, so I don’t sweat it too much.
No other questions for me on this issue. I appreciate all of your help!

ModeratorThanks again! We typically update threads marked as ‘Pending Fix‘ notifying users we’ve patched the faulty code, though it’s always best to review the Release Notes regularly.
Have a great rest of your week. Cheers 🙂
