ParticipantI’ve been back and forth with you for months on this now. I need this resolved. Please give me a phone number to call to talk to someone. The wrong dates show up everywhere on recurring events. Some dates are taking the times from the event and use it as the date.
please, I’m begging you. I need this resolved immediately!!!!

MemberHi soulofyoga,
I’m sorry you’ve been hitting difficulties.
We definitely want to minimize any further frustrations here but we’re going to need to do just a little more troubleshooting work.
After reviewing your previous support topic on this subject it seems like our normal steps for detecting conflicts haven’t turned up any useful insights, so I’d like to approach things from another angle.
Would it be possible for you to install a fresh copy of WordPress in a sub-directory – this will avoid any disruption to your live site – and install only our plugins (The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO) and nothing else.
Within this new, clean environment, can you replicate the same problem? If you can let’s pause and examine things there. If you can’t then just let me know and we can quickly advance to the next stage.
Thanks!

ParticipantI did a fresh install. It works fine.

ParticipantI made a duplicate of my site. I disabled all of the plugins except events calendar and events calendar pro. I get the same errors using twenty 14. It must be in the database?

ParticipantI have now deleted all of the plugins, one by one, checking if I had the problem after each deletion. It’s still there. http://soulofyoga.com/soy/events/
I cleared my cache after each plugin deletion also.

MemberThanks soulofyoga, sounds like we’re making progress.
I did a fresh install. It works fine.
This suggests to me that something else needs to be present for the problem to surface – so it is definitely sounding like a conflict.

I expect so, but I suspect once the damage has been done deactivating other plugins/your theme won’t reverse things by itself.
If we take the test site back to a “clean” state, with only our plugins running, we know that there is no problem. What if you start by activating your theme of choice – create a few events and see if the problem is introduced at that stage?
This will tell us if the issue is with your theme. Assuming for the moment that your theme doesn’t introduce this problem we need to repeat the same thing with your plugins.
Now I can appreciate you may have a large number of plugins and that could take some time, however something you could try is activating fully half of them – then create some more events and once again inspect to see if the problem has been introduced in relation to those new events. From there:
- If the problem hasn’t been introduced, it’s likely the issue is with one of the remaining plugins – so repeat the process and activate half of those that remain then test again
- If the problem has been introduced, delete your events and return to a clean setup then activate just the first quarter
If you can see where I’m going with this, it will quickly let you whittle things down until we pinpoint the seat of the conflict. Based on your findings so far, however, this does give me confidence that a theme/plugin conflict is the right thing to look for in this scenario.

ParticipantI’m running x theme if that gives any insight

MemberI’m not aware of any issues along the lines you have described in relation to X Theme – but following the outlined troubleshooting process is the best way to ascertain if it is indeed behind this π

ParticipantOK, I’ve activated all of the plugins in my clean environment and it appears to be working properly so far. What should i do next?

ParticipantI’ve also installed the X theme prior to the plugins. Here’s my test URL: http://www.soulofyoga.com/test/events/

MemberHi soulofyoga!
OK, so you now have the same stack of plugins and theme as on your live site, have created some test events including recurring events but are finding the issue hasn’t returned – is that a fair summary?
If so, can you confirm those plugins (and your theme) are configured as they are on your live site?

ParticipantThe plug ins are but the theme isn’t exactly the same, no. Am I going to completely rebuild this site from the ground up? This is tedious to just encounter an error again at some point. Then potentially do this all over again. We’re talking a lot of man hours here. I could just switch to timely and not have these issues. I don’t have a lot of faith at this point to rebuild and potentially rebuild again then most likely add all of the events in manually again. Please tell me there’s an easier way.

ParticipantDo you need all of the pages put back in with all of the menus etc also?

ParticipantAlso there was a child theme running with a couple pages we edited. Do you need those?

MemberHi soulofyoga,
Thanks for bearing with us so far.
Am I going to completely rebuild this site from the ground up? This is tedious to just encounter an error again at some point.
I can definitely appreciate it is somewhat time consuming, but the fact is we aren’t seeing widespread reports of this and we can’t replicate it ourselves (even you are having problems replicating the issue), so it’s not an easy thing to solve.
If you can live with the error, or can eliminate it on your live site in the future by changing theme, or can transform the test site (where it doesn’t occur) into the live site – or something of that order – then by no means do we need to continue with this process.
Other than that, we can only offer you guidance and I’m sorry it takes the time that it does.
The plug ins are but the theme isnβt exactly the same, no
…
Also there was a child theme running with a couple pages we edited. Do you need those?Yes. The whole point is to duplicate the same components you have on your live site. A theme has just as much potential to “cause damage”, if you want to think of it that way, as an errant plugin.
With that in mind, please ensure that the theme – or parent and child themes in this case – match what you have on your live site in the first instance. If you had introduced any custom code or modifications, such as in your theme’s functions.php file, then those should come across to the test site, too.
From there let’s see if we can create a set of events that are impacted by this issue.
Do you need all of the pages put back in with all of the menus etc also?
Most likely we do not need the same page and menu content – however it could certainly be worth configuring your WordPress, plugin and theme settings just as they are on your live site (if the above steps of making your test plugin/theme stack identical to the live site don’t reveal anything). Your WordPress timezone settings should be the same, to pick an example, and so on π
Thanks again for your patience through this process.
