ParticipantHi,
We are currently using the events calendar pro plugin on a site and it works really well.
We have another project where it might be useful again, but I wanted some advice on if it will be suitable.
We have an RSS feed of events and I would like to be able to take each item or event on that feed and for each one automatically generate an event listing in the calendar.
Assuming that basically individual events are a custom post type would it be possible to use a plugin such as WP RSS Aggregator with the Feed to Post add on to convert an RSS feed into a series of events in the calendar. A plugin like that will allow you to import feed items into any custom post type and import data from RSS tags into post meta fields. So in theory I am hoping I can import an RSS item into an event listing and match the RSS tags with the required meta fields for an event in the calendar. Or if necessary customise the meta fields in the calandar to match what is provided on the feed.
Do you think this is possible?
Also, my new site will have a set of different regional pages, each with events on them for that region. Rather than having a single calendar page with all events, is it possible to display seperate regional calendars that only displays events for that region? In other words is it possible to have multiple events calendar pages on a single site that are filtered by default to only display events in a certain area?
Thanks
James

MemberHi James.
1)
The Events Calendar is free and includes CSV import functionality. We also have several importer plugins: iCal, Facebook events, Eventbrite.
However, we don’t have an RSS importer functionality built-in.
I’d suggest trying it out. Our plugin adds a custom post type with custom fields that you may be able to map via a third-party plugin, like you mentioned.
2)
You could create event categories and display each category’s events (e.g. month view of a category). Our Filter Bar add-on may also be of interest to you.
Bonus: you might want to use thisĀ Category Colors plugin.
I hope this info helps!
