ParticipantHello: Events still show in dashboard, but the calendar page has completely disappeared from my site’s front end. http://www.eastfallslocal.com/events/
I’ve upgraded to new version of WordPress this AM (4.4) but don’t think that is the reason (calendar worked fine for over an hour afterward) Also just upgraded to EC Pro version 4.0 a few minutes ago. This also doesn’t seem to be problem since the calendar disappeared before I upgraded. (Thought upgrade would fix it.) Perhaps it has to do with this error message?
The page “Events” uses the “/events” slug: the Events Calendar plugin will show its calendar in place of the page.
Any help appreciated

ParticipantHey Steve,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
Definitely sounds like you’re experiencing a strange issue here. The warning you notice there should only display if there is a page that already has the “/events” slug. As an initial step, I would try deleting ( or changing the slug) on that page to see if that resolves the issue.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

ParticipantThanks Josh. Just to be clear, I’d remove the slug from the “categories” screen of my dashboard? If I decide to change the slug instead (to something like “calendar”) will that affect the permalink in any way? In other words, would changing the slug name disrupt a visitor’s ability to navigate to the page?

ParticipantHey again Josh. Removed the “events” page since it seems (from reading other posts in the forum) that Events Calendar can auto-generate a page. No change.

ParticipantHey Steve,
If you change the slug to something else all the internal links would work, however any external links to your site to that “/events” page would need to be updated. However, it shouldn’t need to be changed for the calendar to work. If it does, it means that there is something else going on with this site with another potential plugin or theme conflict that can be diagnosed by following the Testing for Conflicts procedures.
The warning that you mentioned in the initial response was most likely triggered by the page that did exist with that “/events” slug. It should still work with that page active however the default Events view would override that page.
The best step now is to follow the conflict testing procedures to see if anything is revealed there.
Thanks!

ParticipantThanks Josh. Issue resolved (more by accident than design on my part). I deleted a recurring event from the calendar and everything returned to normal. Weird, huh? Thank you.

ParticipantHey Steve,
That’s definitely strange. Do you have any additional information about that recurring event that you think may have caused the display issue? Are you able to create other recurring events without them causing your calendar to disappear?
Thanks!
