GuestCan we set the shortcode in the Pro version to filter events in whatever view by location?
For example lets say I may have 1000+ events worldwide to be viewed on a month or maybe week basis. I want to show a page for each country/major city/state, in list mode and also and map for everything. I know users can use location to filter but I want this automatic. I do not want to be setting this by category, as that may be a further filter I apply for sub topics.

KeymasterHi Joshua,
Thanks so much for reaching out and for your interest in our products!
With Events Calendar PRO, you can create a shortcode that will display the region that you are looking to display. Check out the following resource for a full list of available shortcodes:

Let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks,
Jaime

GuestHi Jamie,
I did look at the docs before posting. Perhaps it is just the 4th of july after effects, but I can’t find any option there which allows showing only a certain location. Can you be a bit more specific?

KeymasterHi Joshua,
If you look at the complete list for the Event List Shortcode, you will see that there are options for country, city, region, etc.

Let me know if you need any further clarity!
Thanks,

GuestIt shows them as yes or no to be shown (as in show the phone number yes or no) not filters of content. For example, from the docs: phone=”yes” address=”yes”. Are you saying for certain I can put in city=”Paris” Country=”France” or is this to “specify extra information which should be displayed, such as the phone number and address of each venue” as the documentation says?

KeymasterHi Joshua,
Sorry for the confusion! Yes, that will just allow that information to be displayed.
If you’d like to display events in only one particular location with a shortcode, you can create a category view for each location or a venue for each location and use a venue shortcode.
You can also utilize our Filter Bar plugin to filter through locations on your main events page.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks,
Jaime

GuestGuess it will not work then. Making a category for every city/state/country is not scalable, requires people to do unneeded duplicate work (specifying locations in multiple spots) etc. Also problematic if people are using your aggregator plugin to import events which may come from one org but have events in multiple locations. It was the problem of the competing event plugin system I am using and not working out. If only the filter addon was for backend instead of UI for end users.

KeymasterHi Joshua,
I’m sorry to hear that this is not what you were looking for.
If this functionality is a requirement for your intended project, I’d suggest that a third-party developer would be the best way to make this feature happen on a short timeline. ? We maintain a list of developers who work with our plugins on our Knowledgebase here:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/find-a-customizer/
Please let me know if there’s anything else I can answer for you!
Thanks,
Jaime
