Filter Bar – Will it fix another date issue?

Hello,

A month or so ago, I wrote in to revisit an existing issue: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/filter-by-date-on-map-view-restarting/ Basically, if you’re using just the map view (as we are) and you use the date search, it doesn’t work as you’d expect. It doesn’t let you search for just a day. It gives you results from that day and beyond. And that, for us, kind of defeats the purpose of even having the date search there.

I was just looking at the filter bar, though, and noticed there’s an additional search-by-date option on it.

Do you think that having the filterbar on a map view would help us to do what we’re trying to do here — get results for just one day?

Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear you are caught between a rock and a hard place here.

Unfortunately I don’ think that Filter Bar can help you out on this 🙁 Take a look at the available filters: https://cloudup.com/ckVznf2yChb. The ‘Day’ filter refers to ‘day of the week’ (Monday, Tuesday,…) in which the events is taking place and the ‘Time’ filter, in which moment it will take place (All Day, Morning,…), so I don’t see how they can help. Where you thinking in any particular filter?

I guess I wasn’t looking closely enough — was thinking that the day filter is what would help. But you’re right; it’s not quite right.

Really hoping MT can get this bug worked out sooner than later… January is when the events on our site will really be active and it would be awesome to have it working more intuitively then. Crossing fingers here…

Hey Courtney,

I’ve been playing around this and craft a snippet to make Map View work as you need. Add the following snippet to your theme’s functions.php file –wp-content/themes/your_theme/-, it will limit the query to the current selected date or to today if not date is selected:

Please note that I haven’t heavily tested it and that we cannot support this type of customization, but hopefully it will get the work done 🙂 Also remember that only events with Venue information will show on the map.
