Hi Team – when we search for events by ‘date’ in the searc bar at the top – when we get the results – the pagination doesn’t work.

To reproduce the issue please do the following:

    Please go to this page
    http://businesseventscairns.org.au/events/category/business-events-trade-activites/

Select a date in the ‘events from’ field eg: from 1 September.

then you get the a the lists for the filter.

However when you click on page 2 down the bottom in pagination, it takes you to the same results – even though it shows as page 2.

It appears the pagination with the filter isn’t working. Can you please advise how to fix.

We have a dev site set up for this as well so you can work on that if you need.

    cheers

Good evening Kimberley and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the pagination not working on your site when searching by date.
I would love to help you with this topic.

As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your latest system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

I am totally able to reproduce this issue on your site, however, I have not been able to do that on my install.

I believe this might be related to the customization you are using to have a default category filter.

Could you please send me a copy of your WordPress theme / child theme in a .zip file link (via Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ?

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

    Good evening Kimberley,

    Thank you for the files.

Could you also send your latest system info as requested above ? That would be super helpful for troubleshooting purposes.

I will run some tests and get back to you tomorrow.

    Cheers,

    Geoff B.

    Good evening Kimberley,

I ran some tests with your theme.

On my end, the pagination from our plugin works great.
However, your theme also adds pagination of it’s own (which does not work – which is not abnormal per se).

I was not able to investigate your site further as it was unfortunately down at the time of testing.

To move this further along, could you please provide us with your system information using the instructions found here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

    Good evening Kimberley,

Thank you for the system information.

I ran some additional tests now that your site is up and my conclusions remain the same.

Your theme’s archive-pagination functionality consists of simply adding the “/page/2/” suffix to the current URL.
In some cases that works, but with complex views and filtering it falls short.

This is because our plugin’s pagination system uses variables in the URL (e.g.: http://businesseventscairns.org.au/events/?tribe_paged=1&tribe_event_display=list&tribe-bar-date=2016-09-01&tribe_eventcategory=150)

So at this point, you have a couple of options available to you:

    1. Customize your theme’s archive-pagination functionality to behave differently for tribe events or hire one of our recommended customizers to do the customization for you.
    2. Simply hide the theme’s pagination on our calendar pages using CSS

    .post-type-archive-tribe_events .archive-pagination {display:none}

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

    Geoff B.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
