Featuring Events on Homepage

I am using Divi. I would like to be able to feature the three most recently added special events blurb style on my home page. There is a module in Divi that allows me to do this with blog posts. There is a setting in EC: “include events in main blog loop”, I had hoped the module would be able to see the event categories but this doesn’t seem to work.
Is there a shortcode that would work? Shortcodes are disabled in the EC free, so I can’t try it out.
Any thoughts or advice?

You are right. Your best bet would be to use the shortcodes that come with the Events Calendar Pro: https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-events-calendar-pro/

The other good news is that you can try it risk-free for 30 days.
