ParticipantJust purchased the Facebook Import plugin, got my settings all entered, facebook app setup, but I cannot import events manually, and haven’t seen any action on the auto update. I am receiving the following error on manual imports:
“Fatal error: Cannot use object of type WP_Error as array in /html/pvs/plugins/the-events-calendar-facebook-importer/the-events-calendar-facebook-importer.php on line 334”July 15, 2013 at 4:15 pm #55310Jonah
ParticipantHi freshmint,
Sorry to hear about the trouble. Is this happening with a particular event you’re trying to import or all? Do you have debug set to true in your wp-config.php file by chance? What versions of the plugin are you running? Can you please also try deactivating all other plugins to ensure it’s not another plugin conflicting with ours?
Thanks,
JonahJuly 15, 2013 at 5:44 pm #55328Douglas Neal
ParticipantIts happening with both the manual and automated imports. I have tried various events from different pages. I have also disabled all plugins and switched to 2011 theme as per suggestions in other posts. I am running v. 3.0 of both plugins. Free Events Calendar / Paid facebook import.
Seems like the problem lies where the code tries to pull in the event photo. I tried commenting out that section and all references to $event_picture. It fixed the fatal error but then I got the error message that the event does not exist or is private etc… even though I know the event was valid and public.July 15, 2013 at 5:46 pm #55329Douglas Neal

ParticipantHi freshmint,
Ok, I’m going to need to escalate this because I’m not sure what else to check here. Please stay tuned for an update shortly.
Thanks,

ParticipantHello freshmint,
Any chance you could post a few of the event ids you are using to import manually? Also if you’re auto importing from a page can you tell us what page(s) those are as well?It looks like there might be an error happening during your event import of the photo and I would like to debug this further and by having some of your Facebook event ids would help testing on this end.

Participantscandido & freshmint, I have made a few changes in our plugin coming out for next release, but I’m not sure if they will resolve your specific issues. If you could email pro [at] tri.be specific details about your hosting setup, active plugins & theme that would be helpful to trouble shoot this further.

ParticipantAlso having issues when trying to import events. Ive followed the directions, setup the appID properly and when I try to import an event I get: “Facebook API Error: Unsupported get request.”
When I try to import with the event ID (which is published to Public view) I get:
The following errors have occurred:
Either the event with ID 152039734991944 does not exist, is marked as private on Facebook or we couldn’t reach the Facebook API
Either the event with ID does not exist, is marked as private on Facebook or we couldn’t reach the Facebook API
Please note that as a result, no events were successfully imported. The following errors have occurred during importing images:
Could not successfully import the image for unknown reasons.
A valid URL was not provided.
Please note that this does not effect importing of associated events unless noted.July 28, 2013 at 4:36 pm #57503Dorothy
ParticipantThis was happening to me over the weekend but seems to be solved now. I had a couple of photos that failed to import today, but the rest of the event was fine

ParticipantUnfortunately, still getting the error tonight. Nothing really changed on my end. Are there specific entries that need to be turned on or any sort of configuration needed in the Facebook App on the Developer site that needs to be done to get this to work properly?

ParticipantAnything at all on this guys? I’ve changed a ton of security settings in the app and verified that I can post via Facebook’s WP plugins to my page timeline . Not sure why this isn’t working but I have at least verified that the app is working properly on the FB side. Would really like to open up the website to traffic but really need the events from my FB page to import properly. Any help that you can offer would be very much appreciated.

ParticipantRick, I need to dig into your event example more explicitly because I am seeing it is blocked but there is no code on our end that is preventing the import, rather on investigating the request it looks at first pass that Facebook is not providing any event information for that particular ID. I am working with Facebook dev tools to determine the cause.

ParticipantTim,
Thanks. I recently tried importing another event via the event ID (480428052035139) and it worked just fine. Not sure what is going on but sure hope it can be figured out. This issue is one last piece of the pie I need before I can open the site up to traffic. Thanks for looking into it and I hope the problem can be rectified quickly.
