ParticipantHi there,
I have a problem which only happens for the all event download changing times. If I download the single event it all works for both Google and iCal.
I have demonstrated this in the pdf which you can download here.
To confirm eg. ISA Rep Softball Trials: http://www.isa.nsw.edu.au/event/isa-representative-softball-trials-2/
are currently 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm and if downloaded they are showing 5:30 – 7:30 pm (actually the times look different to this again)? There are two setting options 1. use ‘Local timezones for each event’ and 2. use ‘Sitewide timezones everywhere’
It looks like either option is OK for what shows on the site but not the export? ie. It makes no difference to the all event download times.
Can you please advise.
Regards.
Peter

MemberHi Peter,
Thanks for reaching out to us and for taking the time to make the PDF explaining the issue!
I’ve searched the backlog for any bugs that could be related to the issue you describe and I found one where the single event export fails to convert timezone, while exporting events from listings works as expected. This seems to be the opposite from what you describe! Let’s find out some more info to see if this the same case or not.
From what I see in the exported files, the timezone in the site is set to ‘Australia/Sydney’, right? Can you check the timezone of the calendar you importing events to? If you set the timezone of the site to UTC +11 (Sydney timezone according to Google) instead of the city name, and try this again, Do you see any differences?
Also the time-stamps you point out in the PDF are different from each other (for single events export and list export), and that’s fine because they represent the start and end dates of the events.
Please let me know about those questions,
Best,
NicoPS: it would be great if you could share your system information with me so I can check if everything looks right on that end as well.

ParticipantHi Nico,
Thanks for getting back to me on this.
Yes it sounds like the opposite of what you found – maybe related?
I can confirm the General Settings > Timezone is set to Sydney: UTC time is 2016-02-02 02:56:13 Local time is 2016-02-02 13:56:13. The Events > Timezone Settings are currently set to “Use the local timezones for each event” I have also tried it with the other setting “Use the sitewide timezone everywhere” but both produce the same result.
I changed to UTC+11: UTC time is 2016-02-02 03:04:16 Local time is 2016-02-02 14:04:16 then tested. It looks like both are working the same but could you please confirm from your side?

MemberHey Peter,
Thanks for following-up! Maybe it’s related, not sure…
Seems like we are having some issues with the ‘city named timezones’ for some reason, I’ve heard about this in other threads but with different ‘symptoms’.
If UTC+11 is in fact the correct timezone for Sydney and the export works for both single event and events listing, then you should be fine for now.
Can you please follow up with your system information in a private reply? I think this could be related to the PHP version or some other server side setting.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Nico,
Unfortunately the client is still having the same issue with the single event being ok but then testing the filtered and complete list causes the times to go + 1 Hour.
She has cleared all caches before testing and is now testing from other computers and looking to import into Outlook, Google and Apple.
Any solutions would be great.
Regards

MemberHey Peter,
Sorry to hear about this! Can you confirm that the calendar she is trying to import to are set with the correct timezone? If that’s the case please confirm that the site is using the UTC offset named timezone and I’ll run some test to see if this is a new bug (or an aspect of the bug that was originally affecting the site) indeed.
Please let me know about it,
Best,

MemberHello,
Thank you for reporting this issue. We weren’t able to get a fix for it into our upcoming release (4.1). However, please know that the problem is still on our radar and is ticketed within our system to be addressed in a future maintenance release. We’ll do our best to keep you posted when we are able to get a solution in place. Thank you for your patience while we improve and expand our plugins.

MemberHey Peter, great news regarding your comment here:
Here we are with the system info, would be good to have a copy button or link there?
This has been added to The Events Calendar 4.3 — definitely update when you have the chance — we hope you enjoy it. 🙂
Cheers,
