ParticipantHi,
When we make a repeating event and try to exclude some specific dates, then update the event series, they still show up in the calendar and are also still present in the back-end. Can this be solved a.s.a.p? Thank you.

MemberHello @Gunter,
Thanks for getting in touch and for your patience while the forums have been closed for the holidays. We’re still technically closed a few more days but I’m happy to help at least get started with you on this.
I just tried creating a recurring event with exclusions, then updating the series. The events that were excluded before were still excluded after updating the series.
That means we’re going to have to do a little more troubleshooting to see what is different on your site that might cause that to happen.
Would you be willing to provide a little more detail? If you could provide me a bulletpoint step-by-step process of the steps you are following from publishing the series to editing it and the steps in between, that will help me make sure I’m doing the same.
Secondly, will you please follow the steps outlined in this article? It will help us determine if there are any conflicts that might be getting in the way of things functioning properly.
Lastly, will you please share your system information with me? You can grab that at Events > Settings > Help, then paste it here as a private reply.
Let’s start there and see what we can find. 🙂
Thanks!

ParticipantI believe this is a known issue that has not been resolved, up to and including the current version of 4.0.3.
Searching the forum for “Exclusion” will shed light on the subject.

MemberThanks for chiming in, Mathew!
The ticket associated with the reports in the other threads has been completed and was released in Events Calendar PRO 4.0.3.
Gunter, please do send me the information requested in my last reply (including perhaps a screenshot of your recurring settings for one of those events) and I’d be happy to keep digging into this one.
Cheers and happy new year!

ParticipantGeoff,
I installed the 4.0.3 update and the exclusions are still not working for me either. Exclusions continue to display on the calendar and list widgets.

ParticipantSame here.
I created a clean install with only WP 4.4, TEC 4.0.4 and TECP 4.0.3. Created a single event that repeats weekly, excluded one date. Monthly view still shows event date that should be excluded.

MemberHey Jill and Mathew!
I’m going to allow Gunter a chance to reply and share any more information he may have since he was the author of this thread. You’re totally welcome to follow along or open a new thread if you would prefer direct support.
If you do open a new thread, please do provide your system information as well as the steps you follow to create recurring event with exclusions, and perhaps even a screenshot of the recurrence settings for that event–those would be super helpful to expediting the process. 🙂
Cheers!

MemberHi Gunter,
Thanks SO much for all the information. This is super helpful and allowed me to test this further.
It looks like this is still working for me. I followed the instructions:
- First created an event with these settings:
- Start date & time: 23/12/2015 @ 20 : 30
- End date & time: 23/12/2015 @ 21 : 30
- Repeating pattern: every week and end on 19/07/2017
- Saved these settings first
- Then clicked edit all in the list of events and added the exclusion:
- Date doesn’t happen on 27/01/2016
- Then saved again, but that particular date is still visible back-end and front-end.
Here is a screenshot of my settings, just to confirm.
I checked the back-end list of events in the admin and the recurring instance on Jan. 27, 2016 was excluded, as expected (screenshot).
I also checked on the front-end and the event was excluded there as well (screenshot).
Unless you see something that I was missing while testing, I think the only differences between our sites is the theme being used and the plugins that are installed. I was testing with a default WordPress theme (Twenty Sixteen) and no other plugins installed except The Events Calendar (4.0.4) and Events Calendar PRO (4.0.3).
Let’s make sure the same is true for you in those same conditions. Will you please follow the steps outlined in this article and let me know if you continue to see the same issue when your site (or test site) is in a default condition?
Thanks so much!

ParticipantGeoff,
I believe I may have found the issue.
Please see my open ticket.

MemberNice find, Mathew!
This is now ticketed in our system. While I don’t have a timeframe for when we’ll be able to release a patch, I will mark this (and your other thread) as Pending Fix and will keep everyone posted as we know more.
Thanks for reporting this so we can check it out!
