events to show alongside posts in the main blog loop

I have events nest to my blog post but they are not in order, old events still show up and the first event viewing is for two weeks away and many items should be before it. I do not want them in published order, I have already published many items to cover our year. They need to show up in time frame of event and disappear from view after event is over and some reoccur next year when they should show up again.

You are right, by default the integration of events to normal posts is not “smart”:

1. Events are just treated as any other post and they are sorted based on your basic blog posts loop rules. It looks like this is publication order on your install.
2. There is no archiving rule specific to events being shown in that loop (which will hide the event once it is over).

The good news is that you can probably achieve what you are looking for with a bit of customization.

Just to set expectations,the scope of our support is mostly to get our customers started on the right track and to help them in case of issues.

We unfortunately do not provide complete support for customization.

Keeping that in mind, the following snippet (added to your theme’s functions.php) should act as a good starting point: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/include-events-in-main-blog-loop-confusing-almost-unusable/#post-1188504

This should help return the events by event date as opposed to by publication date.

With some extra logic, you could filter the query to return only events that have a start date that is in the future or today in that loop.
