Events Preview from Homepage

I’ve looked throughout the forum some but I couldn’t find how to do that if at all. But is there a way to create a preview of events, like a sidebar widget, but be able to include on a section of a homepage? Something that shows the image, header and brief descriptions with a link to the main event page. Seems like a shortcode could be generated for this but I’m not finding anything on this. Thanks!

We do offer Calendar View Shortcodes and Widget Shortcodes, as well as widgets built in to Appearance » Widgets.

Thanks Courtney, I did see that. Is there a shortcode that will allow me to see the last three or four events regardless if they are current or past? I’m wanting to add a “Latest Events” section to the home page.

Unfortunately, work on introducing support for past events (in the context of our shortcodes) has not begun and is not currently scheduled – simply put, it remains a proposal. We’d love for you to add your vote to suggesting this feature at https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas/suggestions/13101369-past-events-widget. All of our shortcode and widget options show the current and upcoming events, but not past events.

Until then, a workaround of sorts was made at https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/show-past-events-by-category/#post-1287396. You could have a button or link of some sort that takes people to view specifically past events.

I wish we had a more firm solution to offer you for now.
