ParticipantI couldn’t open any pages I had on wordpress. It always said the above, that not found on server. I did all HTTP 404 error handling and conflict modeling. Only changing permalinks to Plain helped to get pages working.
What causes this and how is it fixed in future? This project is dependant on permalinks but it may be near future that permalinks would be better suited to be post names.

MemberGood evening Risto and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the 404 error messages you experienced. Yikes!
I would love to help you with this topic.Sometimes the permalinks do need to re-saved (after an update for example).
You can read about the most common solutions to 404 errors here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/fixing-http-404-errors/Only changing permalinks to Plain helped to get pages working.
That is very odd. The calendar is built to work with pretty permalinks.
Perhaps just re-saving them solved the issue (which coincides with the switch to plain permalinks) ?
The other cause for this could be that you created real pages with the “events” and “event” URL.
The way our calendar works, it does not use “real pages”, but it needs exclusivity over certain URLS (as defined by the Events -> Settings -> General screen). In other words, if you actually created a page called “Events”, it could explain why the calendar is not working.
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

ParticipantI tried changing back to “post names” permalink and pages immediately stops working. I’m using a page with Beaver Builder plugin. I’ve created Featured Venues on page from BB. When pretty permalinks are in place I can open the page but not start using BB or view the page. This is for pages that don’t use BB also.
I tried to fix conflicts and deactivating all plugins except Events Calendar did not help. Neither did if I changed to Twenty Sixteen -theme.
I found earlier post of this kind from your page and the result in that was the same. Only then it was the numeric permalinks that worked. If that really meant numeric and not plain, beats me. I tried numeric permalinks and this still didn’t work.

ParticipantSorry but I can’t give you access to our site because it resides in a network where you can’t get access. The resolution from our part to use those Plain permalinks is enough for now.

MemberGood afternoon Risto,
I totally understand.
If you ever change your mind, getting at least a copy of the theme would go a long way in helping to troubleshoot this.Another thing that could help is setting up some form of staging copy of the site that is accessible.
In any case, you are welcome back in our support forums any time.
For now, I am going to close this thread.
Have a great week!
