ParticipantHello:
I just took over maintenance of a website that was using The Events Calendar version 2.0.11 and The Events Calendar Pro version 2.0.11
Dreamhost contacted us to say that they had to disable The Events Calendar 2.0.11 due to issues it was causing on the shared MySQL server. They said if I reactivated it, they would delete it permanently.
I updated the free plugin to version 4.3.5 and the events are not showing up on the /events page.
I updated the paid plugin (at a cost of $89) and that did not allow the events to show either.
When I go to the “Events” in WordPress they are all there.
When I activate The Events Calendar version 2.0.11 and The Events Calendar Pro version 2.0.11 everything displays as expected, but Dreamhost says the free plugin is causing issues on the shared MySQL server.
When I activate The Events Calendar version 2.0.11 and the Events Calendar Pro version 4.3.4 I get a version mismatch error.
When I activate The Events Calendar version 4.3.5 with any Pro combination including the one you just purchased, it does not find the existing events.
Is there a way for version 4.3.5 to see events set up under version 2.0.11?
Thank you!

ModeratorHello and welcome 🙂
I think the best route to go in this instance is to manually update in order until you’ve reached the most recent version. Start with just TEC since PRO is simply adding additional features, and all you’re attempting to do is get the events to display.
You can download previous version of The Events Calendar here. Make the default WordPress theme and The Events Calendar are the only active themes/plugins on your site while doing the manual updates. For more information, please review our Manual Updates Knowledgebase article.
Let me know how things go and have a great rest of your weekend. Cheers!

ParticipantThank you, Hunter, I appreciate your help. I’ll do this and let you know how it goes. I’ll start with picking something 3.x and see if that works, otherwise will have to go back further.

ParticipantUnfortunately this did not work, and I’m not sure how to resolve.
It works with the 2015 theme but not with the theme we use on the site.
How do you even begin to troubleshoot this? Surely the theme creator will say the fault lies with the plugin.

ModeratorWelcome back,
Thank you for the update and I’m sorry to hear things didn’t go well. Your best route is to search our forums for any examples of this happening and hopefully you’re able to find a solution. It’s not uncommon for this kind of behavior to occur after so much time between plugin updates. I really wish I could dedicate more time on the matter. Please review our What support is provided for license holders? Knowledgebase article for more information.
When testing, make sure WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG are enabled on your site’s wp-config.php file. Any errors will display at the top of your page as you try to reproduce the conflict. Your browser’s ‘Inspect’ tool will also display any errors in the console.
It might be best you set up a fresh WordPress installation where you can fully troubleshoot the issue. Make sure you have only the default WordPress theme, The Events Calendar, and PRO installed and activated on the test site. Please review our Using One License for Live and Dev Sites for more information.
Lastly, refer to Our Favorite Developer Plugins to see which plugins we recommend to help troubleshooting. Good luck and hopefully you can get things squared away quickly. Cheers!
